Singulair and Nasonex

My 8 year old son has had a persistent cough for about 7 weeks or so. I took him to the doctor 8/19, and they took an x-ray of his lungs. The doctor diagnosed him with mycoplasma pneumonia, and gave him an antibiotic that he took for the prescribed 5 days. The cough has not gone away so we went back to the doctor today. Unfortunately is GP was out on vacation so we had to see a different doctor. This doctor gave us samples of Singulair and Nasonex (nasal spray). Looking for Any Positive Feedback to End My Apprehension and Fear...

My son is about to 18mos old on the 11th. He has had a very bad winter (and year) with constantly getting sick. Colds, sinus infections, stomach bug, ear infections etc. You name it. The last time he was very sick, just under a month ago, he had pink eye in both eyes, a sinus infection and a double ear infection. His normal pediatrician is on maternity leave.
