Advice on "Talking Up" a Trip to the Dentist

My 3 year old daughter had her first trip to the dentist last week. From the start of us talking about the appointment she has had very negative feelings about going and has told us that she doesn't want to go. We do not know why. We have never to our knowledge bad talked the dentist. So, our first visit to the dentist did not go well at all. She would not lay down on the dentists chair, or even look at him. We watched a little boy go first, just counting the teeth etc. Still very resistant. Finally we had to hold her down so he...

Am I a Bad Mom for Feeling like This?

Ok I have 4 kids and am a stay at home mom. I feel burned out. How I feel though I don't think is good. I just got back on Friday from the coast with my husband just fishing and relaxing alone. Now it was wonderful 5 days of no kids and no complaining was just bliss. Why I feel so bad is I am already feeling burned out again and I have only been back for 2 days. I didn't miss them that whole week I was away. What is wrong with me? I love them so much and want nothing more then to be their mom of course but I just don't know what is...

Panicing About Christmas Time Already.

I'm trying to think of presents for my 3 year old son. I'm glad he's not at an age of Wei's or Guitar Hero's just yet. My husband has been unemployed for about 6 months now and money is really tight. What kind of make at home presents do people do at low cost or no cost? I don't know how to sew. I am checkng on freecycle for legos, lincoln blocks, and puppets. Any other ideas? And how does one get on toys for tots?

Daughter Gets So Upset About Brushing, She Nearly Throws Up

My little girl used to enjoy brushing her teeth. She didn't exactly love when it was Mommy's turn to complete the job, but she was pretty good about it. I think around the time her last two baby teeth came in(top molars), she began to dread brushing. I'm sure it hurt! She would let me brush all the different areas, but freaked out when I needed to brush the top back teeth. She doesn't seem to have any tooth pain at all; just hates brushing now. I read some advice on Mamasource last night about really taking the reins myself again and...

Chipped Tooth - 16 Month Old :(

My 3 year old knocked down the baby (she's 16 months) this morning and she bumped her mouth on our slate floor. I noticed while changing her diaper just now that she has chipped one of her front teeth. I have a call in to our dentist, but does anyone have any idea what they would do about a chipped tooth? It's pretty sharp and I worry about her bumping a lip on it in the future. I don't think it is anything but a cosmetic problem, but don't really know. Anyone with experience of a toddler chipping a tooth, I appreciate your responses...

Ideas for Eye Patches/glasses for Children!!!

My nephew is 19 months old and we started noticing that his left eye seems to be turning in a bit. My sister took him to a pediatric ophthalmologist and the doctor found that he is far sighted in both eyes, more so in the left than the right. The doctor wants him to wear a patch on the good eye, so the weaker eye can strengthen 4-6 hours a day. (Yeah right!) This seems impossible because he will not keep the patch on at all. Glasses were ordered as well and he needs to wear the patch with the glasses too. Does anyone have any ideas or...

My 2 1/2 Year Old Won't Let Us Brush His Teeth...

My 2 1/2 year old won't let us brush his teeth... he will come to us and say "I brush teeth" and wants his toothbrush with his toothpaste on it. When we try to brush his teeth he will fight us and clamp his mouth shut. If we give him the toothbrush he will suck the toothpaste off of it and want more. He used to chew on the brush but doesn't do that anymore. How can I get him to allow us to brush his teeth? We've tried brushing our teeth with him but he only wants our toothbrush when we do that. We've tried pretend crying to see if he'll let...
