What Do You Really Need for an Infant?

So it's been 8 years since I last had a baby to care for. I am expecting again and am at a loss for what I really need and trying to prioritize. I have looked at many registries and think they include a lot of frivolous items (wipe warmers ect) So if you could go back in time and know then what you know now, what are your must have items. When I say I have nothing I mean not one baby item at all. I know I'll need a crib, clothes, ect. I also plan on breastfeeding, so I will need a pump for when I return to work and there are so many to...

What to Register for at Baby Shower

I'm having my first baby. Anything you had that you couldn't live without that I should register for? I've heard to get terrycloth diapers instead of burp pads cuz they're cheaper and more absorbent, and to buy a changing pad instead of a table and put the pad on the dresser cuz it's cheaper and takes up less space... It seems that veteran moms have some very clever ideas and I am not opposed to spending money on anything that's really important especially a safety device, but if I can cut corners and save money on other things I'd...

Medela Freestyle or PIS

First time Mom looking for recommendation on whether to purchase a Medela Freestyle pump or a Pump in Style? I like that the Freestyle allows you to walk around etc. but wondering if that really works?? I am using a rented Symphony hospital grade now and it works great. Want to make sure whatever I purchase will work just as well. I do hate having to be locked down to one spot to pump so many times a day. I also travel for work so that is important too in my decision. Looking for recommendations (good & bad) on these. Thanks!

Working Mom Looking for Medela Products in Loop

I work in the Loop and need to pick up some more Medela pump and save bags as well as a few more bottles. Is there a place in the Loop that sells them? The closest I can think of is the Target on Roosevelt. I would prefer something more in the heart of the Loop that can walk to during lunch. It would also help to know where I could get replacement parts in case my pump breaks during the work day (this is something I'm always worrying about). Thanks!

Cleaning Wipes for Breast/nipple and for Medela Pump Parts and Storage Bags

Hi, I'm stocking up for breastfeeding supplies and wanted to know... Do I have to use the cleansing pads specifically sold to clean your breast before breastfeeding or can I use baby wipes or other natural wipes instead? What about cleaning the Medela breast pump parts? They sell a specific wipe just for that too. Can I use something else? Does anyone have a recommendation for something I can use for all of these purposes? Lastly, I'm looking for recommendations on breast storage bags. I heard about Gerber, Lansinoh and Medela...
