Introducing Solids to Daughter, Digestion Is Tough

I have a 5 month old daughter just starting out on some solids. We prepare fresh fruits, veggies, oatmeal and rice. She also enjoys cherrios and graham crackers. Obviously her digestion has changed, but should she labor with bowel movements? I think this may be the reason she was up crying every two hours tonight. Anyone have the same experience and any suggestions? I will discuss with our family doctor next visit.

Baby Has Hard Bowel Movements

I have a happy one year old daughter who has always had problems with harder than normal bowel movements. When she was just a few months old we had to put her on sorbital(sugar water). I hated having to do this and started feeding her prunes and other foods that I thought would help. She's now drinking milk and it's gotten worse. She's not constipated she actually goes 4-5 times a day, but it's in rabbit pellet form. I hate to be so blunt, but I'm hoping that someone has some ideas on how to cure this without over-the-counter meds. I...

Infant Does Not Burp

Hello! I am not sure if I should be concerned, but my three week old does not burp. He's only burped three times in the past few weeks - and that was on his own. He is fed breastmilk from a bottle. I am wondering if this is something any have encountered and if I should even worry about it! He seems to get fussy a few times a day - sometimes inconsolable - and am wondering if this is a tummy ache due to not burping during feedings. Thanks!

14-Month-old Is Constipated

My 14-month-old son is constipated a few times a week. I have been in contact a few times with the pediatrician's office and am doing everything I can. This started when he was switched over from formula to whole milk. Also, he does not drink much water. I am always forcing it on him, but he won't drink much. I give him prunes or blueberries to eat, make his baby cereal with prune juice, give him whole grain foods, etc. I also water down his milk and occasionally put Karo syrup in his milk. He still has problems with constipation. ...

Son with Diarrhea

My son is 7 months old and is having his first bout with diarrhea. He's still eating and still having a wet diaper, though not as often as he usually does. But he is pooping out pretty much everything that he's eating. I am wondering if anyone has used imodium on a child his age before. I have also heard that yogurt really helps but I was wondering if anyone else had tried this. I've got a call into his doctor but he hasn't called me back yet. Any info would be helpful.

How Do I Help My Baby Eat When He Has Such a Strong Gag Reflex That He Throws Up

I have a 9 month old who will gag on any solid food that is not an extremely fine puree. When he gags, it is so bad he throws up his entire meal. I have tried making thicker purees, and giving him things like puffs, cheerios, and some other softer finger foods, but nothing seems to go down. If anyone can tell me when he might grow out of it or if anyone has some ideas on what to feed him, please let me know.
