Help with Digestion Issues

Hi Moms, I need some help for my little boy. For the past two weeks he has had a cold/infection (stuffy nose, cough, etc). It runs for a couple of days, gets better, and then comes back. At the same time he is having some digestion issues, mainly diarrhea. He has not had a solid bm in 2 weeks. On doctors orders, we fed him nothing but formula, pedialyte, rice cereal and bananas for days. Not helping. Do you have any of your own ideas on how to treat this chronic diarrhea? We need it to stop as we can not give him antibiotics for the...

Could It Be Acid Reflux?

My 1 month old has been very fussy the last couple of weeks, and I'm not sure whats wrong. He hardly naps during the day, but will sleep for 2-3 hours at a time during the night. It also seems like he's constantly hungry, so I nurse him every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. I know my milk supply is adequate. Usually halfway through a feeding he'll stiffen up and start to crying really hard, and then do the same after a feeding. This is my first baby, so I don't have much experience. We thought it might be gas, so we started giving him those gas drops. A...

Baby Has Hard Bowel Movements

I have a happy one year old daughter who has always had problems with harder than normal bowel movements. When she was just a few months old we had to put her on sorbital(sugar water). I hated having to do this and started feeding her prunes and other foods that I thought would help. She's now drinking milk and it's gotten worse. She's not constipated she actually goes 4-5 times a day, but it's in rabbit pellet form. I hate to be so blunt, but I'm hoping that someone has some ideas on how to cure this without over-the-counter meds. I...

Infant Does Not Burp

Hello! I am not sure if I should be concerned, but my three week old does not burp. He's only burped three times in the past few weeks - and that was on his own. He is fed breastmilk from a bottle. I am wondering if this is something any have encountered and if I should even worry about it! He seems to get fussy a few times a day - sometimes inconsolable - and am wondering if this is a tummy ache due to not burping during feedings. Thanks!

Endoscopy and Celiac Disease

Last week I posted a question about my 16 month old's milk protein intolerance. The Gasteroenterologist ran some tests and yesterday they called me to say that one of the tests was for Celiac disease. She had elevated levels on a part of that. The doctor wants to perform a endoscopy to diagnose her properly. I don't know much about celiac disease (I went online and started reading on it).. but at this stage, my biggest concern is about the endoscopy. (He also may do a colonoscopy at the same time) Has anyone had this done?.... or had their...

14-Month-old Is Constipated

My 14-month-old son is constipated a few times a week. I have been in contact a few times with the pediatrician's office and am doing everything I can. This started when he was switched over from formula to whole milk. Also, he does not drink much water. I am always forcing it on him, but he won't drink much. I give him prunes or blueberries to eat, make his baby cereal with prune juice, give him whole grain foods, etc. I also water down his milk and occasionally put Karo syrup in his milk. He still has problems with constipation. ...

Diarrhea - What to Do

Hi- My daughter is 10 months old and has diarrhea ever since we were at the doctors office for her check-up a week and a half ago. She did not receive any vaccines however, she did receive her first dose of the flu shot. She has no other signs of being sick, ie; no fever, still eating well and over all good spirits. I am not sure what to do. She is eating table food in addition to being breast fed four times a day. Any suggestions about what to do would be great. Thank you!!

Gag Reflex When Taking Medicine

My grandson (7) has to take a very tiny pill each day. He has a very bad gag reflex. He has tried to swallow it, but can't. It is a time released caplet, therefore it can not be crushed or desolved. We feel bad for him, but he has to take it. If anyone knows of a trick to this, please pass it along. This perscription is not made in a liquid or a gummy. We have tried everything. I even tried bribing him. he said that he just couldn't do it & starting crying & saying that he was sorry. My daughter has called the Dr., but so far, no solution.

Infant with Gas

My 2 month old son has been suffering from long periods of excessive gas--especially in the evenings. It's severe enough that it keeps him from going to sleep and repeatedly wakes him (often partially, sometimes completely). It has interfered with nursing on a couple of occasions--he was "starving" (as all babies are when hungry ^_^), but had to disengage to pass gas so frequently that he couldn't nurse! The gas is obviously painful--he starts screaming as he feels it coming and really strains to pass it and sometimes screams even more...

Heart Burn as a Sign of Pregnancy?

So my hubby and I are finally ready to try for baby #3 and with using an ovulation kit i ovulated last mon or tues. We had sex those days so now I'm just waiting until next week to take a test if my period doesn't show. So on Sunday and Monday this week I have had mild heart burn and I've been really really moody. Now I have never ever had heart burn until I got pregnant with my first and again with my second. But I only got it once i was about 6 months and on with both. So my question is could the heart burn be because I am pregnant? Can...

Where Is My Pee?

So I had stomach flu Tuesday-Wednesday. Starting Wednesday night I was re-hydrating. I knew I was dehydrated because my back muscles were spasming. All day Thursday I drank as much water as I could. This morning, still drinking. I've only peed like four times since Wednesday. And I'm 32 weeks pregnant, so this isn't normal. I was peeing like ALL the time. When I do pee, it's like... trickle... and that's lame. This morning my pee was bright orange, even though I've been drinking a lot. What the heck? Where is my pee, and what...

A Cough and a Vomit.....

Almost three weeks ago my 10 1/2 month old son came down with a little stomach bug. A few days after that he caught a pretty bad cold. During the cold when he would cough really hard it would make him vomit. Fast forward to present time, cold is all but gone, and aside from two days in the last 19 he is still vomiting about once a day (was 3-4 times a day at height of cold) after a he coughs. Took him to his dr. two weeks ago for his 10 month check-up and she told us that we just need to let the cold run it's course and things should...
