Do You Ground from Activities You Pay For?

I'm just wondering if you ground your kids from the activities you pay for like sports. So far we just ground from TV, phone, playdates, etc. I haven't been able to bring myself to ground from dance lessons when we pay a lot of money for her to go! Also, grounding her from team sports when the team is depending on her seems to be punishing the team. So far we've never had to get that far, behavior has always corrected when being grounded from the other privileges. Just looking for other's thoughts on the subject.

Dare I Say It? Are We Parenting by Bribery?!

Some food for thought. It just dawned on me this morning as I was browsing today’s “questions” email that the amount of questions/answers I see that come through regarding “rewards” systems for good behavior/tasks is crazy! Do children REALLY need reward charts for good behavior? Why do we feel the pressure of having all these reward systems set in place? Rewards for cleaning, rewards for potty training, rewards for behavior, rewards for doing well in school, rewards for saying please and thank you? Is this parenting by bribery or...

What Do You Do for Punishment?

Hi, I have 3 kids, aged almost 6, 4 and 2. The older two are boys with the almost 6 year old in 1/2 day Kindergarten. I'm going to start this by saying I have great kids. Generally they are very well behaved, but they are kids and they make mistakes. I am curious about what other parents use for punishment as their kids get older. I use time out, distraction, and taking a break with my 2 year old, and my 4 year old gets time out and toys put in time out as well. But I am struggling to find appropriate punishment for my older boy....

Ok Need Help with Punishments for 22 Month Old ASAP PLEASE!!!!!!

Ok so my son is 22 months, I am trying to go the non spanking route. Here's what he is doing, He has found out that he can jump. So he has started jumping off of our kitchen chairs. Not good. (It's funny but I have to do something) I also have a problem with him running from me (and he's faster than me LOL) when I try to take something that he's not suppossed to have, Like screwdrivers (husband left them in his reach ONCE) and other things...

Does She Stay Grounded?

Last week I grounded one of my daughters from the computer. She is supposed to have all of her stuff done before she can get on the computer. I found out the following morning that she had not made her lunch nor finished her homework. Last night was her last night of restriction. I was in the living room when I heard the muffled sound of both of my daughters belting out 80's hits. I see my bedroom door shut. I open it up and the one who isn't grounded is sitting in the computer chair surfing youtube and the other one is standing over...
