Very Large Baby :)

Hello! I was wondering when does baby's rate of growth typically start to slow down a bit? I can't seem to keep up with my baby girl! at four months she was 26 1/2" and 17lbs!! now, at six months, she seems quite bigger to me! my husband (6'3")and i (5'7") are quite tall but i didn't expect such a big baby already! (hehehe!) i know i seem silly for worrying about this, but i'm not sure how to purchase clothing/sleepers/etc for her...does anyone have such a big girl?

What's a Item You Used for Your Baby That You Couldn't Live Without??

HI MAMMA'S! I'm a soon-to-be 1st time gramma and wanted to make sure my daughter had some great things to help her transition into parenthood with the new baby. Is there something you received as a gift or bought yourself that really helped your sanity those first few months?? I bought her a cotton swaddler for the baby from target as I hear that swaddling is the thing to do to help a baby sleep better. (wish I would have known that back when she was little.. I wrapped her in a blanket but it wasn't like these swaddlers out now.. and...

Summer Infant Advice Needed

I know babies like to be swaddled and I know they can’t regulate their temperatures right away, but won’t a summer baby (due 6-20-07) get too hot if swaddled too tightly or with too many blankets? What about hats? How long do they need to wear them for temperature regulation? My first baby was a winter baby (born 2-2-06) so swaddling him in multiple blankets made sense (just like they did at the hospital). But I’m at a loss for what to do with a summer baby. Also, any other summer baby advice/suggestions would be appreciated!

I'm Drowning in PAPER -- What Do I Keep???

I just had my 4th baby in May, but I'm still in a nesting phase. I look around my house and I see paper EVERYWHERE! I just want to toss everything but not sure if that's the only/best solution. Here are my main problems: 1) Household Bills: How long do I need to keep bills I've paid? Just until I get the new bill to see if it was applied? 2) Receipts: What's a good way to store receipts until I verify they were applied to bank account/credit card? What about receipts I want to keep for a while in case I need to return...

Baby Tosses and Turns

My 12 week old baby tosses and turns a lot at night. We swaddle him in a tight fleece/velcro swaddle so his hands don't startle him. He still kicks a lot (last night he not only got his legs out of the swaddle but through the snaps in his footed jammies). I don't think he is ready to give up the swaddle yet because his hands knock his pacifier out and he isn't quite ready yet to self-soothe with his fingers (he can get them to his mouth but not consistently). His tossing and turning keeps both of us awake a lot of the night. I had him...

Baby Shower & Registry..

Hello~ I am trying to register for my baby shower & figure out all of the necessary items we will be needing for our daughter. Money has been very tight lately, due to a family crisis, I haven't worked in over a year. I would like to know what are some of the items that you couldn't live without & the things you never used. I am trying to create a registry so my husband & I & our loved ones know what we need & where things stand. Any advice on baby products would be greatly appreciated. This is our first baby. Thanks so much!

Keeping a 1 Year Old Warm This Winter

Hello Ladies, I was wondering what you all do/have done to keep young ones warm when they are sleeping if they are too young to know about keeping covered with a blanket. My one year-old daughter sleeps well and I can put a blanket on her when I put her in her crib for naps or bedtime, but she moves around and then the blanket falls off and does no good. I don't want her to start waking up in the middle of the night just because she is cold. I considered one of those sleep sacks, but I thought they would be hazardous on a girl that stands...

Potty Training a Resistant 3 Year Old

Hello Moms, My daughter turned 3 in March. At the advice of my pediatrician I have not been very forceful with pursuing potty training as she always seemed to be resistant. I've stopped and started too many times and I feel like the situation is getting more difficult. She often laughs when she poops in her diaper and likes to sit in it. She will run away when we try to change her and she thinks its funny to sit in her soiled diapers. Last night she took her diaper off and threw her poop on the floor. Today, I decided I have to nip this...

How to Abide Beliefs and Not Letting Infant Daughter Wear Pants in Winter

I don't wear pants and my infant daughter won't wear any either. My reasons for this are my religious beliefs. But anyway, its really hard to find skirts for my daughter. Right now she is 5 months old. Well, winter is coming up and I want to abide by my religious beliefs in not having my daughter wear pants. I guess what my question is are there any mothers out there that are like me and only wear skirts and dresses and have daughters that they have to keep warm in the winter? Its hard to find skirts in infant sizes. Summer was easy, I put...

Montessori/Attachment Parenting Sleeping Routines for My 9-Month-old Baby Boy

Hi Ladies, My baby boy is 9 months old, and we’re having some sleep issues. Our situation is a little bit convoluted, so let me explain what’s going on. First off, I’m a trained Montessori teacher, and we’re raising our son “Montessori style,” as I call it. This means that he doesn’t sleep in a crib. We just have a mattress on the floor for him. He’s very mobile, so the whole room is baby proofed to ensure his safety as he explores the room. Our style of parenting has been on the Attachment Parenting end of the...
