Looking for Advice on Infant Skincare

My 5 month old daughter is very chubby and has very red, chaffed skin on the back of her knees. I'm sure it's because her legs are so chubby, but I can't find anything that helps it. I've tried Aquaphor, Vaseline, A&D, baby oil - nothing works. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!!

Infant Eczema, What Works to Get Rid of It??

My 4 month old has flare-ups of eczema. My 4 year old also had this prob, and eventually outgrew it. I know about all of the talk about topical steroidal creams, but that was the only thing that worked for my 4 year old when he was an infant. I have tried everything (non-steroidal) like Eucerin, Aquaphor, hydrocortisone, you name it. Some that claim to help make it flare-up worse! I really do not want to have to use the steroidal cream, but I do not want him to be uncomfortable. Any help/advice on this topic is much appreciated.

Acid Mantle (Cream Mixed with Hydrocortisone) - Is It Safe?

I have a 15 month old son who has extremely sensitive skin and had horrible ezcema (sp?) since he was an infant. We found out that it was mostly caused by an allergy to pet dander so we had to give up our pug. Well, we have been using a prescription cream on him called A-Mantle since he was about 6 months old that our Pediatric Allergist prescribed (who is associated with CHOP). This cream is a hydrocortisone mixed with some other type of cream. We use it on him practically every single day (since he still has ezcema). I specifically...

Can Prolonged Use of Hydrocortisone Cream Affect Growth of Child?

Hello moms. My 18 month old boy has chronic eczema since he was 6 months old and have been using a hydrocortisone cream prescribed by our pediatrician. We have been applying this cream, a 2.5% formulation cream since he was an infant with varying degrees of eczema relief. He has needed it on a daily basis and we have been applying it twice a day to his ankles, wrists and behind the knee--the areas that are affected. We also use Aquaphor and pretoleum jelly emollients to relieve his dry skin. We have not asked our pediatrician though...

Baby's Poo Burned Her Bottom :(

My 15month old daughter had a poo that burned her bottom so badly there are even 2 small spots where the skin is a little broken from blistering. Has anyone experienced this? There were no new or acidic foods and she's not sick, I'm not sure what could have caused it. It happened late yesterday afternoon at daycare, and when I got her home to bathe her she couldn't even sit in the water and cried from pain, it was awful. I put lots of diaper cream for the night and this morning it was better, it also seemed to be healing throughout the day....

What Products to Use for an Infant Who Has a Rash

Hi I was wondering what products many of you recommend for an infant (2 month old) who has a very bad sandpaper like rash all over her body. Her back is actually peeling today since her skin has been so dry. I did take her to her Pediatrician who ruled out any illness. He stated it may be sensitive skin or she may be having a reaction to a food that I am eating as she also has very bad reflux along with it. I use dreft detergent on all clothes/linens that come into contact with her. I use Eucerin on her skin which does seem to help a...

Sore near Mouth

My daughter has an area of irritataion near the corner of her mouth. She is currently 15 mos old. When she was an infant we were always batteling eczema. I feel she has outgrown that. This area around her mouth becomes irritated whenever she drools from teething or a cold. I constantly put neosporin and/or aquaphor on it to protect it. I have tried covering it with a dressing to no avail. What it worse is that she will pick at it. I am losing this battle. Anyone with experience in this? Any ideas? It is not a cold sore. Thank you for your time.

Doctors Won't Help My One Year Old with Her Allergies

My daughter just turned 1 last week. She had colic and excema when she was first born. Her pediatrician thought she might have a protein allergy and put her on Nutramigen. We moved to another city and have been through five pediatricians now. Since coming off of Nutramigen and trying solids her excema has come back, she has a constant runny nose and a cough. She scratches so bad she makes her legs bleed. All the doctor's say here is that she has a viral infection. She has had severe symptoms since December and we can get no help. She...

Baby Oil Causing a Rash

Hi all, Monday night when my two oldest daughters, 7yrs and 5yrs, took their shower they put Baby Oil in their hair, alot of it. Since they went to bed right after we didn't notice until the next day. Figuring the oil should soften their hair and be safe we left it in until Tuesday night when my 5yr old starting crying because her neck hurt. The baby oil had given her a rash so bad it looks like poison ivy, red and blotchy with little hives all over her neck, shoulders, chest and scalp! So we put her in the shower right away along with our...

Rash Around Her Eye

My baby, who just turned one last week, has developed some sort of rash around her left eye. One week ago she woke up with a few little red dots under the eye. I didn't think much of it...maybe she scratched it or something. Then the next morning, a few more places, kind of raised up. Then, it spread to her eyelid. I happened to have her one year well check two days ago and they were perplexed too. The dr. thought it might be eczema, which is a strange place to have it, I think. I have always used the ABC line from Arbonne on her, but...
