Most Useful New Infant Item You had...please share...especially Preemie Parents

So my SIL gave birth VERY early last week..at 30.5 weeks gestation. My niece weighed in at 2 lbs, 1 oz. She has done miraculously..no vent the whole time, no emergencies and while she has not gained any weight yet, she is maintaining her birth weight at this point. She looks wonderful...even a full head of hair! I thought fat and hair grew last?? She is a tiny little spectacular miracle! She will be needing some selections of preemie clothes, and other such things. But I am wondering what were the most useful things you had for Preemies...

What Do You Really Need for an Infant?

So it's been 8 years since I last had a baby to care for. I am expecting again and am at a loss for what I really need and trying to prioritize. I have looked at many registries and think they include a lot of frivolous items (wipe warmers ect) So if you could go back in time and know then what you know now, what are your must have items. When I say I have nothing I mean not one baby item at all. I know I'll need a crib, clothes, ect. I also plan on breastfeeding, so I will need a pump for when I return to work and there are so many to...

Is There Any Solution for Infant Gas Pains?

My little girl is 4 months old and she is a sweet little thing for most of the day. She doesn't sleep all that long during some days, but all sleep is varying with her. Some days we will get 3 hour long naps and only one wake up at night for a bottle and then back down. Other days it is 20 minute cat naps throughout the day and sleeps for about 3-5 hours at night and then is up for the rest of the night. The problem isn't that she doesn't sleep- it the REASON WHY she doesn't sleep. When she is up at night, she is actually trying to...

My Baby Has Colic

Hey guys, I have a 5 week old with colic. I am breastfeeding him, and have tried taking out dairy, spicy foods, raw veggies and caffine. Nothing has helped. I have tried gas drops and that doesn't do anything either. He is on medication and it helps with his acid reflux... but he is still so irritable at night. He is very fussy at night, I have heard that there is nothing you can do about colic... we have started a routine with a bath at night to try to calm him... I have also heard something about the miracle blanket, do you know anything...

Baby Coming Out of Swaddle

My son is 16 weeks old. I have been swaddling him in the miracle blanket at night for bedtime since he was about 6 weeks old. I know that the miracle blanket says you should discontinue use at 14 weeks, but he is so comfortable in it and can put himself to sleep at night once he is in his blanket. Recently he has been getting his arms out of the blanket in the middle of the night and then he starts crying. Any advise? Should I stop using the miracle blanket? Should I stop swaddling? Should I find a bigger one and wrap him tighter? ...

How Long Did You Swaddle Your Infant? Also, Baby Won't Take Pacifier...

My baby girl is turning 3 months on Monday - I have heard that by now we shouldn't be swaddling her anymore. She will ONLY sleep if she is wrapped up really really tight. If not, she can fall asleep but will wake up soon after drifting off and wake often during the night because her hands are free to roam up by her face --she gets frustrated & all worked up because she starts sucking on her fists. Any advice? She won't for the life of me take a pacifier because the hospital started us on giving her our pinkie finger to suck on & that is...
