Ear Infection in 12 Month Old

Hi my daughter is 12 months old and has an ear infection. She began her antibiotic 2 days ago but I have seen no improvement in her. She is still very fussy and is still running a fever. In fact she is now starting to pull at her other ear. She also has a really bad cold. When should she be starting to feel better and is it normal for her to continue to have fever? I am worried about her as this is her 4th ear infection in the past 5 months. Thank you so much.

Your Opinions on Singulair

I have a 5 yr old daughter who gets a wicked cough a few times a year. This past trip to the ped he suggested we start her on 4 mg of Singulair. My husband is asthmatic and the ped feels that there is a possibility that she may be diagnosed later in life with asthma. She is considered at risk because she has had upper respiratory issues a few times this past winter. My question is that I've heard both good and bad about this medication and I am just concerned. Most of the issues involve behavioral outbursts and children becoming more...

4 Year Old Son with Allergies/asthma

My 4 year old son was recently diagosed with allergies associated with asthma. He gets a persistant cough this time of year and in the fall. The cough sometimes causes him to vomit. He has had allergies since he was a baby, however, the asthma part of this is new to me. I feel uneasy about it because he seems to be on lots of medication now. We have a nebulizer and he inhales albuterol twice daily. He also has nasonex, zyrtec and singulair. Zyrtec was the most effective, but now doesn't seem to work as well--this is when he was given...

My 10 Month Old Is on His Fourth Round of antibiotics...Is This Normal???

My 10 month old son is on his fourth round of antibiotics for a persistent antibiotic resistant ear infection. This has been going on for 6 weeks and he is in a lot of pain and totally miserable. I finally demanded a referral to an Ear Nose & Throat Dr. They gave me one, but didn't state that this is urgent so we can't be seen for a month. I am starting to worry about my sons hearing and other long term effects of the ear infection and being on meds. for so long (the antibiotics have given him horrible thrush and diarrhea too). Does it...

Singulair and Nasonex

My 8 year old son has had a persistent cough for about 7 weeks or so. I took him to the doctor 8/19, and they took an x-ray of his lungs. The doctor diagnosed him with mycoplasma pneumonia, and gave him an antibiotic that he took for the prescribed 5 days. The cough has not gone away so we went back to the doctor today. Unfortunately is GP was out on vacation so we had to see a different doctor. This doctor gave us samples of Singulair and Nasonex (nasal spray). After reading online about the two products, I am not so sure they are...

Singulair for a 2 Year Old??

Hi Ladies! My daughter continues to get ear infections and the croup. She's recovering from her second round of this stuff. This has all happened in a matter of 4 months. She's got lots of food allergies, and the doctor seems to think that she must have environmental allergies as well and something she's allergic to keeps triggering her getting sick. Long story short...she just finished her cortisone for the croup, has about 5 days left on the antibiotics, and the doctor wants me to start her on Singulair through the end of fall to see if...

My 16 Month Old Twin Boys Have Asthma Brought on by Respiratory Infections.

Well, the season of colds is here again and it looks like my twin boys still have asthma brought on by respiratory infections. I need advice from others with kids with asthma. When my twin boys are sick, it's misery in our house. They're very clingy (for good reason) and I have to use a nebulizer on them every 4 hours and very often in the middle of the night. It also goes on for weeks vs. my older son who is over colds in a matter of days. I get very stressed out wondering if when I bring them places they'll pick up a cold, or worse. Do...

New Singulair Side Effects

Has anyone noticed subtle changes in their child while taking Singulair? My 11 year old has allergies and asthma and has been on Singulair (and other meds) for a long time on and off. I notice distict changes in mood, behavior and sleeping habits while on Singulair. I brought it up to our pediatrician several years ago and he brushed it off as being perfectly safe. I even brought it up to my son's allergist more recently and she was puzzled. Said it must be something else. Imagine my surprise when I've been seeing the news articles on...
