My son just turned one. Many people told me a park or my house would be perfect...the first birthday is more for you then it is for them. His birthday was July 12, and it was way too hot for my house & the park, so we went to the Chuck e Cheese. It was fun, although he got scared of Chuck E lol. I did it there so I wouldn't have to do cleanup & planning as well :) He had, though, the Backyardigans theme on his cake & birthday shirt. (he loves that show). good luck & have fun with it!

For my son and daughter, we had a party with family and close friends at my house. We did not do a theme for either party since they were too young to really be interested in any characters.

My goodness - she's ONE year old .... have a cake & ice cream and invite the family over .... or do it at Thanksgiving dinner. This is more for YOU than her ..... she won't even understand what's going on! Save the money - you'll need it a LOT more later on!

Just wanted to say my son will be one on the same day! You are WAY ahead of me - haven't even thought of his 1st birthday party idea yet...maybe I'll read the ideas here... :) He is our 6th and our 1st child's birthday is 3 days earlier, I'm guessing we'll have cake and ice cream after Thanksgiving turkey while the family is all together then she'll want a few friends over on another day since she's 11. I will say that I have learned through the years that many families travel that Thanksgiving weekend so for years we always held it the Friday night before Thanksgiving (before everyone went out of town). Can you believe they are 8 months old already?! WOw - I'm impressed that you are planning the birthday already!! Congratulations, by the way!
