1 Year Old with a Rash That Will Not Go Away.

My daughter had awful diaper rash a couple of weeks ago, which was weird b/c my kids do not have sensitive skin. I started using Desitin, anti-fungal and hydrocortisone mixed up in a bowl and it helped, but the worst spots wouldn't go away. Someone told me that the new formula Pampers has is very irritating to some babies and once they get diaper rash it won't go away. I switched to Huggies and she was better in a couple of days. If you are using Pampers, try switching for a couple of weeks and see if it helps.

My 5 year old daughter got something about a month ago. I can't remember exactly what the name was, but it was an infection for the hair follicles. Her pediatrician gave us some cream to put on it. One thing he said though was to watch it and if it went away, then came back worse, to call him. He said that sometimes those rashes can turn into staph, in which case she would need an oral antibiotic. Just letting you know another possibility........good choice to go back to the pediatrician.

My son had a rash like this and nothing worked. The 6th trip to the Peds Office my husband finally went with me and said why can't we use cornstarch that's what my mom did and nothing you are doing works. The Ped said it would not hurt and since the medicine and everything else they gave us was not helping he said go ahead and try the cornstarch we did and he has not had any type of rash since. I bought the largest container with a screw off lid and wrote his name on it and it stays in my bedroom and we use it all year long no matter the temp. He calls it his snow and if I don't watch him or daddy forgets the whole house is snowed but little man is fine. I put his name on it since my mom has a habit of putting things up where they belong even when you don't want her too and I was a little worried the cornstarch might end up in the kitchen and get used in some food. Better safe than sorry and everyone that visits knows if E's name is on it in the original container that it is not to be used for whatever the manufacturer recommends it for.

my daughter had a rash that ended up being a fungal infection. It started like diaper rash but looked different after a few days. I got it on my hands too. We had to use an athleates foot crean on her and for myself. Yes, I wash my hands after diaper changes. It took her pedi three trys to figure it out. Ask your pedi about this if he's at a loss.. Mine even thought it was scabbies at 1 time and we went through the whole neck down treatment for days and days.

Our kids have had bad diaper rashes that required a prescription, compounded medication (locally called Riley Butt Cream) to help clear it up.

It contains an anti-inflammatory, anti-histamine, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal component to address the major causes of rash.

Unfortunately, without most of us having medical experience and not being able to see the rash, you really are best suited to take her to the pediatrician.

Your pediatrician probably should be able to tell what kind of rash it is just be where the rash is located and what it looks like. If it isn't yeast, then maybe it's a heat rash or exzema. If this is something that turns out to be a recurring problem, you can always ask to be referred to a pediatric dermatologist.

First thing that is tried in La. is Bourdreaux;s Butt Paste, works in most instances.

I was going to say maybe fungal also. Athlete's foot cream mixed with hydrocortisone works in less than a day, even for the worst one.
