10 Month Old Not Eating

Hi there everyone, I have a 10 month old little girl and here lately ( well for the past week and a half) she will only eat just a little bit of food. I have tried everything from stage 3 baby food to table food- and I also have given her a variety. Because if you put one or two things there she wont eat them. So anyways I called her Dr because I don't want her losing weight. His nurse said it was probably teething but I don;t know. I mean she is getting in more teeth but she has to eat right? It's to the point where she sometimes gets up in the middle of the night screaming. But once again her Dr thinks this is night terrors. Any advice would be helpful. I have no idea what to do. Thanks!

R.

My daughter has gone through similar phases. Don't worry, at 10 months she is not depending on the food you give her for her nutritional needs. The formula or breast milk you give her is where she is getting all the nutrients she needs right now. Think of this stage as the practice eating stage. She is just getting to know what eating food is all about. Be consistant in what you give her. At 10 months I stopped feeding my daughter jarred foods and we went straight to table foods. Surprisingly her eating got better then. I also found that if we ate our meals with her, she is a better eater.

So basically what I am saying is, don't put so much pressure on yourself or your daughter at this point in time when it comes to consuming food. She will get the hang of it eventually. Just try to make the eating experience a fun one.

My daughter went through thesame thing at 8 months. The doc told me the same thing. I just keep trying to give her food all the time and trying new things. She ate when she was hungery and in the end she was fine. I have learned with both of my kids that they will eat when they are hungery and I don't worry so much anymore. My daughter is now 2 1/2 and just last night did she eat more than three bites for dinner and that went on for almost a month, she hardly ate anything at all. I think kids go through phases whether its teething or not. Well anyways I wish you luck.

Kids go through phases were they dont eat as much as WE think they should. They just eat more when they are growing, and when they arent growing they arent as hungry. Your baby will let you know when shes hungry, ive never known one to starve themselves. Dont worry about it, as long as shes getting her formula she should be okay, she'll start eating more soon.

Hi R.! My daughter will be 5 next month and she has ALWAYS been a fussy eater, she still is. Even when she was little. I called the Dr then and he said a baby won't starve herself. I had no idea what that meant at the time, lol. But it's true, she ate what was right for her. And she's still that way. She eats so little that I worried about her gaining weight, but I give her daily viamins, give her smal prtions and I try to set a goal of she should eat at every sitting.
It may be just teething for your daughter, but if it continues, don't sweat it, just keep giving her nutritious foods and she will eat enough for her body. Good luck,
D.

My son went through the same phase. He wants to eat everything in sight now - of course I don't let him. What I did was try to trick him into eating his veggies by hiding them in something else. He loves macaroni and cheese so I would try to hide the veggies in the macaroni and cheese or whatever he was eating. It worked for a little bit and eventually he grew out of that phase. I tried all different foods until I found something he would eat pretty well. Just hang in there. She'll start eating like normal soon. I promise.

It is a stage it will pass. Just wait a few days and she will eat again. Dont show any emotion about her eating or not eating... Babies do these things... somedays they eat somedays they dont. She is still supposed to be getting most of her nutrition from formula or breast milk.

My daughter is 15 months old and sometimes she eats and sometimes she doesnt. And the same food she loved yesterday asking for more more.. she might not touch today.

dont worry she is normal - it will be fine.
