Consider a different kind of milk. Cow's milk can cause allergies, asthma, excess mucous, etc, etc..
I agree about the juice plus. Also, you might think about buying a juicer and juicing fresh fruits and veggies for them.
Okay, mommas, I just need a little reassurance here... my little one is constantly sick. It seems like we can never get from under the constant runny nose, cough, fever, ear infections, etc. the list just goes on and on. Yes, she started daycare about 4 months ago, and I realize that is probably what's causing a lot of this. I just want to know, if there will ever be an end in sight??? If, so, when?? About how long does it take for them to build up immunity? I just want to know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Any suggestions on helping her fight all of this stuff?? Thanks mommas!

WE have spent the last two years like this. It seemed to be for us a combination of allergies and ear issues. We thought for a while that if we got the allergies under control, which they were, it would level off. But, it turns out that both of my kids needed tubes in the worst of ways! My oldest had his tubes in almost two months ago and my youngest about 5 weeks ago and neither child has been ill since! We have had at least one of the two of them on antibiotics for the last 12 months and we have actually been antibiotic free since the tubes! I figure at this rate with the money we have saved on dr's visits and meds we can plan a big vacation!
I had the same problem when my daughter was 18months and I enrolled her in a montessori program... she was sick constantly her entire first year. I also have a seven year old with Down syndrome with a suppressed immune system and he was sick his whole entire first year of kindergarten. It was a nightmare. I had heard about Juice Plus when my son was a baby but didn't pay much attention to it as there is a lot of hype on various supplements. However, I started noticing that a LOT of my mom friends who have kids with disabilities and immune issues use Juice plus because not only do their kids have suppressed immune systems, they also do not eat fruits and veggies due to sensory issues with food which hinders their getting any adequate nutrition to boost immune function. So, skeptically I started looking into it and we started the supplements last year.
I am happy to report, that since starting it, neither my daughter or my son has had one cold, ear infection, or stomach bug(only the occassional runny nose due to allergies and we manage that with allergy meds just fine)in the entire LAST YEAR. It's crazy!
I became a distributor of Juice Plus so I could get a discount on my own purchase, not necessarily to sell it. However, if you're interested in checking it out my website is: www.juiceplus.com/+rw73600 Let me know if you'd like to place an order. Juice Plus is a whole food supplement. There is a veggie version and a fruit version.
They have a gummy version, chewable tablet (my kids take these because I don't like the idea of gummies sticking to their teeth). They also have capsules you can break open and mix into food. That's what a lot of my mom friends of kids with autism do so their kids don't know they are taking it as a lot of them won't swallow pills or chew tablets.
Hope this helps!

Please look at the website www.naet.com and know that this is not fake. it has changed my familys life in so many ways. i am the mother of 8 and no one gets sick any more-i am serious. have an open mind and give it a chance!!! you'll be sooo glad you did for your sake and hers!!-C.:)
At my doctor's appointment last week, she said that this is the worst allergy season in 50 years. So, add that in with a new daycare environment and I bet it a combination of things that is making your child sick. I'd talk to your pediatrician about possible over the counter or prescription remedies.
just out of curiosity, do you have any pets in the house?
Sorry to hear that your daughter is getting sick so often. I know the feeling my son is the exact same way. I stay at home with him, but anytime I put him in the church nursery, gym daycare or just out with other kids he catches something. I feel like we have a standing order for antibotics at Walgreens. I don't know if there is really anything you can do. It is so weired because my daughter who is jus 16 months older than my son never gets sick. She goes to all the same places and is always fine. I think the older they get the less likely they are to put things in their mouths so the germs are not so easily spread. I would go to your local health food store get some vitamins and any other immune booster you can get for her hopefully that might help just a little. I will keep her in my prayers I know how difficult it can be.
Hello B.,
perhaps it's a comination of things. My son did the same for a while. it turned out that milk make his allergies worse. The doctor thought it was just allergies. once I stopped milk products, he improved significantly. nowadays, he's drinking some lemonade almost every day (w/ real sugar...no high fructose corn syrup nor artificial sweeteners... that stuff is not good for kids) and that helps him a lot. I try to keep the milk product consumption to 2 times/week. like pizza on Sat. and pasta on mon or tuesday and I have to make sure I give him his allergy (decongestant/antihistamine) that day. that has cut doctors visits by 80%. it's worth a try. at first you may have to go 1-2 weeks to see the difference (if milk is a culprit).
do check for other allergies. for example: if allergic to ragweeds that includes: sunflower and safflower + echinacea + chamomile + lettuce.
if you're looking for herbal alternatives to help the immune system, check astragalus and elderberry (not ragweeds).
Recently I'm trying honey. 1 - 2 teaspoons daily of LOCAL... (for us, north dallas) honey is supposed to help your body w/ seasonal allergies. I've been taking it for a couple of days and it clears my throat and sinuses in the morning. I'm amazed!
Good luck and keep trying! ~C.~
Been there and done that and it wasn't child care.
Get allergy tested.
Boost immune system naturally with foods that are high in zinc.
You might want to add vitamins-go to health food store and ask someone who actually knows what they are talking about.
Reduce TV time. This is a BIG NO-NO. It actually causes the body to be stressed from all the flickering, causing a reduction in the immune system.
Get educated on the risks and benefits as well as alternatives to antibiotics.
Here is one good article to start with.

Keep a log of foods eaten, symptoms present, and meds given.
Ask questions. Accept nothing without further investigation. Not even doctors know everything. I was raised to never question a dr or teacher and that has only been a handicap to me and nearly cost my kids a lot. I have learned to get educated, ask question, pray, and go with my gut feelings, esp. concerning my kids. No one knows them better than you do.
Welcome to the world of daycare. My son was the same way from ages 12 months to 2 years (when we finally pulled him out due my second pregnancy). You should check to see if there are allergies at work here as well. My nephew has a constant issue with that and they just now got it under control with the right medications--physician prescribed not OTC.
Good news is that their immune system is fortifying itself and the sickies should settle down a bit. Just keep reinforcing hand washing and not putting hands in mouth/toys in mouth when playing.
We can ALL relate to this so my prayers are with you. Wee ones are the worse to get sick, you just want to cry with them or cuddle them as well.
