20 Month Old Daughter Has a Possible Stye

My 20 month old daughter has a bump on her eye and I think it's a stye.
I asked a pediatrician I know, she said it looks like a stye but she wasn't positive.
She said to monitor it for swelling, as well as if it gets larger and starts oozing.
I was wondering if anyone knew any natural remedies. I cant keep her from rubbing her eyes. I'm going to try a hot compress but she doesn't let me keep it on for long.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

New to the site and I haven't figured out how to reply unless I edit the what happened.
Anywho.... I've had several styles mainly from makeup getting in my eye. I use similasan homeopathic drops for styes.
Any drugstore carries them, but they're 2+. I haven't messed with Ariyas stye and it looks a lot better today. Thankyou everyone!

My son had one for about a year, from about 18 months-2.5 years. Tried the warm compresses for a bit, but he hated them and they didn't do any good. After a few months, we got a referral to a pediatric opthamologist. They looked at him and determined he didn't need surgery, but they could operate if we wanted. We chose to wait it out and it eventually went away on its own.

If it is a stye , it will go away after you try this . Make a cup of tea using a regular tea bag Lipton if you have it . Do not use green , herb flavored etc. Then take a spoon and squeeze out excess liquid .Let it cool a bit especially since its for your toddler . Test on back of hand . When it is ready , hold it with a folder paper towel so you don't stain your hands. Then apply to closed eye for a minute or so . If you have to do it in shorter increments still do it . Then put tea bag in cup again to warm it up and repeat . If you can do it again later in the day please do so .I'm sure your daughter will be uncomfortable at first . Do your best . It really works ! Easier than putting medicine in her eye too !

I had one for about a year that eventual resolved itself. I practically lived under hot compresses for several months. They may have kept it from getting worse, but there's no way to know.

I did use a combination of antiviral herbs (you can google that term for info) for a couple of months before it went away. I don't know whether they helped, either, but it did eventually leave. Unfortunately, pretty unpalatable and probably not advisable for littles. But google 'antiviral herbs' to see whether any might work into her diet. Or possibly add a little to honey, my new go-to remedy that seems to help just about everything.

So, recently, I've added manuka honey to my medicine chest. It has multiple antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal actions when applied topically (NOT on the eye, of course) and/or internally. My daughter, who is in medical sales, turned me on to this amazing product, which helps with all sorts of small wounds, infections (including uti), rashes and burns. I've been astonished by the effectiveness of the brand I've used, MediHoney. It's completely sterilized to be free of botulinum or other microbes, so presumably is safe even for babies, though I'd check with a doctor first. You can find some brands in health-food stores, but check for sterility.

I sure hope you find a solution. I'd love to hear about what works.

I know "they" say rubbing a stye with a gold ring is just an old wives tale and not effective. My mom did this and even tho it might not have caused the stye to go away it felt good.

I've had a style in my eye several tImes, and they've always gone away after a day or two. I had no idea they could last as long as a week, much less a year!

I though a warm compress lessened the pressure, but I couldn't say it did more than that. I think I rubbed my eyes, too. That's a bad habit, I know, but I just keep thinking it's going to help. Even though I rub my eyes (all the time), the styes still went away after a day or so.

I think you're right of your SWH. Just keep an eye on it in case it gets worse. I would say chances are it won't last long.

(Wow! A year! That just blows my mind.)
