Hi I am 29 weeks pregnant and I am thinking of changing doctors. I live in yukon, but I am willing to drive to the city. I really like the doctor i'm seeing it's just the nurse. She is absolutely horrible. She makes me feel very uncomfortable and makes me cry often (I know it's not hard when your pregnant). I don't want to even go to the doctor because of the issues I have had. Please let me know what you have done in this situation if anyone has been in this situation or let me know of any good doctors that will take me this far along. Please help!!! Thank you

So What Happened?

Well my Dr ended up calling me on Saturday, so I took that time to talk to him about the situation. He was very understanding and he is going to talk to her about the situation. I was not the only one who had this problem. I am very glad I talked to him even though I thought I was going to have an anxiety attack. I made though and hopefully things will improve. Thank you guys for all your help.

Well, I really wish you would talk to your doctor. Since you go see him next week, that would be a PERFECT opportunity. Make a list of the things you would like to discuss and just mention it. I'm sure he'd be receptive to your concerns... I'm sure you're NOT the only one with a problem with her. She's absolutely horrible! He HAS to know. It's a shame that she can make you feel this bad. I wish you lots of luck and confidence in your appointment next week. YOU CAN DO IT!

Is the office big enough that you could request another nurse for your last few visits? The nurse will not be at your delivery - just the Dr, so if you are happy with your Dr it would be a shame to change.

That sounds so awful. Well, not sure who you're going to now but I've heard Dr. Beeson is wonderful. She is in Yukon at the hospital. I used Dr. Dobbins and I liked her and her staff during the routine visits. However, I didn't realize that Dr. Dobbins is one of those doctors that likes to schedule deliveries and she likes to do c-sections. She likes for everything to be planned and scheduled. I was not happy with that as I wanted very badly to have a natural birth and ended up in a c. But, Dr. Beeson, I've heard, is wonderful and believes that babies should come on their own when they're ready (unless of course there is medical reason for the alternative). Sorry for my rambling. I wish you well. Oh, I will be having my next baby at OU Medical Center. They have midwives that I've heard wonderful things about. The number for OU midwives is ###-###-####. Good luck!

I am sorry you are having such a hard time at such an exciting and stressful time in your life. Changing doctors is a big decision, and I really think you should try talking to your doctor about the problem first. It's worth a shot! Good luck in whatever decision you make.

As a patient of Dr. Dobbins (again), I can assure you she does not like to do c-sections. She tried to convince me NOT to schedule an induction and to let nature take its course. She has always been honest and very helpful. She does have a waiting list for new patients (that's how great she is). Dr. Lackey is another favorite of mine. He's in the same office as Dobbins.

My advice is to first confront your doctor. Let him or her know how the nurse is treating you. The doctors nurse is the first impression of the doctor. Then you might contact your insurance company and find out who is on your list of doctors. Jennifer Strebal at Mercy is new and her father is a good ob. Also there is Dean Carpenter at Mercy. They are both good doctors. But if you like your doctor let him know how his nurse is acting so he is aware that she is running off his patients. Best of wishes and good luck.

I would first have to ask if you have confronted the doctor about his/her nurse? If you like the Dr. I would hate to see you change because of the nurse. Your Dr. has all your history to this point and would be able to give you the best care. I have confronted doctors in the past about their office staff and/or nurses and they are usually receptible because those people are a reflection on his/her practice. If people are leaving the practice because of the nurse I think the Dr. should at least have a heads up. Maybe he will do something about it... Just a thought!! Good luck!!

I TOTALLY understand, I was in the same situation when I had my child. I can advise you NOT to go to Dr. Reisig for that exact same reason! I loved the doctor, but her nurse - well you obviously understand! Dr. Misty Wayans (maybe Waymans?) at Mercy is really nice. I have only used her for Gyno, haven't dealt with her or her nurse when it comes to having a baby. Good luck!
