We just did our 4 yr olds b-day party at the Austin Zoo. They have a picnic area. You can also reserve a grill. There is a petting area and a train. My son loves going there. He had a blast.
Hello, we just moved into our new house & have nothing really in the backyard for little ones to play with. I'd love some suggestions on party ideas to do here or if there is a place you have used in the past that would be fun. We live in the Lakeway area. I am inviting a few new friends he has met since we moved - nothing too big.
Thanks so much.

My kids (3-1/2 and 5) have really enjoyed the birthday parties they've attended at Pump It Up and we've done the morning drop-in session, too. They are very organized and only the birthday party is in the room as opposed to other places where it is open to the public (all ages) at the same time.

Since you just moved in and your son is only 4 I say keep it simple. It's so hot out right now that anything can make a kids party great.
A "Slip and Slide" party, I think they are only $15 at Walmart, have everyone bring suits and towels and provide a little sunscreen and a bar-b-que! Couple hotdogs, some juice, and a big cooler full of icecream cups and it will be a great party.
Besides, NEXT year, when he gets more friends and school gets closer and you are moved in, that's when you might want to do something bigger, but for a 4 year old, a cool summer party (especially this summer) might be just the thing!
Good Luck.
Something that I have done twice for my son is Fry's Fun Farm. I have gotten the petting zoo which they bring about 25 animals (nothing larger than a very young baby goat) plus they bring a pin to set up to keep the animals from roaming. We only had a baby goat once and it was pratty young. The kids and adults can get in there and pet and feed the animals as well. It went over really well for our parties. The first time we had them come they also brought piglets that the birthday boy got to feed with a bottle. It was so much fun and everyone raved about it. They also have pony rides and a train (this will drive them around the neighborhood). I haven't gotten either of these because we never know how many kids will show up at his parties. I've also had themed Moonwalks and those always go over well too. I don't remember the company name on that one although I've used them twice. I found him in the kids directory. On his advertisement there were moonwalks in a truck shape, characters and I think a castle. He's great to work with and they come and set it up and take it down for you. They also disinfect after each party and make sure they are very clean. Not all places do. I found that out from experience.
