My 2 year old started to become a picky eater at that age. I asked the doctor and he told me it happens and as he gets older he will change. He finally started to eat different things just recently.
When my baby boy started eating soild foods, he loved them all. He's been eating all of his veggies, fruits, meats, everything I give him very well. A little more than a week ago, he started getting 3 teeth in at once. Since then, he no longer wants to eat any of his vegetables. He will only eat cereal and fruit. How can I make him want other foods??? Before he started getting these teeth, he also went to sleep by himself very well. I would put him in bed, and he would go to sleep. Now, he wants to be held while falling asleep. He also wakes up about an hour after going to sleep and wants to be rocked back to sleep. Please help!!
Thanks for all of the advice. Now that the teeth have come through, he is back to eating more normally. It's not quite the same as before, but I'm sure in time we'll be back to normal. Of course, here come 2 more teeth...
Thanks for the advice!

well if he's eating soft cut-up veges, he just doesn't want to eat them b/c they are too hard on his sensitive gums while he's teething. if he won't eat pureed veges also, he's probably just going through a phase, which most babies outgrow. just keep offering a variety of foods and try to sneak in a bite every now and then. the sleeping problems sound like just teething as well. try giving tylonol or motrin before bed and if he wakes up you can alternate the 2 meds every 2 or 3 hours throughout the night. also, use orajel on his gums. during the day you can offer him a teething ring or a washcloth with some crushed ice in the center, tied off with a rubber band (so he can't swallow the ice) then wet the outer part a little.
Teething is hard for many babies and its very common for a baby who is teething to refuse foods, even a bottle sometimes and for sleep interruptions to occur. I would suggest medicating him at least 15 minutes before trying to put him down to sleep to alleviate the discomfort enough that he can soothe himself down. If you dont use tylenol or advil (check with doctor before using advil), there are homeopathic teething tabs you can get at most grocery stores that work well for many babies. There are different kinds of discomfort associated with teething.....from sharp, deep pain to pain that is like bruising on the gums....the latter kind often prevents babies from eating normally and can make them "fussy" enough to prefer only favorite foods during their discomfort. Also, babies typically get more fussy about food as they grow as their taste buds get more sensitive and they develop preferences for certain tastes.
Good Luck!

Remember when you got the wisdom teeth, they hurt. Your child's teeth hurt also. Something cold helps, but I feel that this will change when they come through. A fun time RIGHT. Been there and I had the same problems with mine. Good luck.
i agree with the other posters. Your baby's gums are probably sensitive right now. is it possible to puree his meat? As for the sleeping issues, try to keep his bedtime as routine as possible. If you do not normally rock him to sleep, don't start now. Give him lots of hugs and extra attention during the day; but don't start rocking him to bed. That can be a really hard habit to break. Motrin or tylenol should help.
Best of luck!
While he's teething, he's going to want extra nurturing. He's really uncomfortable, and he doesn't know why. Imagine when you're pre-menstrual and kinda moody, needing extra hugs sometimes; maybe you want your husband to rub your back. Imagine what it's like when you feel out of sorts and can't quite put your finger on it. That's your baby, only he can't tell you that. Different foods are going to give him different experiences during this time, some more pleasant than others. Some foods he'll want more of because they have whatever nutrients his body is needing at the time. Just kinda follow his lead. As long as he's properly nourished, let him have what feels good going in.
If you're interested, use natural homeopathic teething tablets from Whole Foods. They contain chamomile to help him to sleep. Just give him lots of hugs and rub on him.
Don't push it till his teeth come in. He'll be like a whole new baby soon!
His gums are probably very sensitive. When my daughter was teething, we gave her homeopathic teething tablets that melted in her mouth (You can get them at Wal-Mart). It eliminated the pain and she couldn't taste the pill. They were the best invention for teething that I've seen! Try that and/or sugar-free popsickles to numb the gums.
Anbesol and Orajel were yukky! so I wouldn't recommend them.
i wrote a respondes to one just almost like this one i'm clearlywinged see if you can review it i think it may help
good luck L.
