A Line or Not?

Has anyone gotten a faint line result on the brand of pregnancy test that tells you that 2 lines is pregnant, 1 line not pregnant? And if so, did you end up being pregnant? I'm testing kind of early because I'm just too impatient and I got a faint line. All the other times when it was negative, it was really negative....no hint of a line. I'm not due for my period for a least 5-7 days, but then again my period is not always regular. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I hope it means I am pregnant. I will repeat it in a few days...if I can wait that long!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I took the other test (same brand) a few days later and got 2 definite lines!

Positive is positive, even if it's faint. You only get false negatives, not false positives. It's based on the amount of HCG in your blood. At this point the levels are low. That's why the line is light. Give it another week and test again. I know the waiting is hard, but the tests are expensive.

Any sorta of line usually means pregnant. I had a faint line with my first.
I would get another test and try again.

A double line is a double line. If you got 2 lines, no matter how faint, then your pregnant. If you only got 1 line wait a week and test again. All these tests say that they can test as early as 7 days before a missed period, but they only come back positive this early 5% of the time (they don't tell you that now do they). I tried to test early with my daughter and got a negative, but took another a week later and got a positive. So if you got a negative I'd wait a few more days. If you got a double line, no matter how faint, your pregnant baby. Good luck.

I know what it's like to be anxious to get an answer but testing more often and with different tests isn't going to change the long term outcome. Save the money you are spending on all this stuff (hopefully to buy lots of cute baby things) just wait 7 more days. Why keep taking the test over and over when you know it's too early?

I wasn't sure either, so the nurse at the OB's office recommended getting one of the tests that have an electronic readout that says "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant." It worked and helped give me peace of mind!!!

Hi T..I had a similar situation.I used the First Response test and had a very faint line and I thought I was not pregnant and the disappointment set in once again.Funny thing is I'm a nurse and my husband is a physician assistant and we didn't pick up on the signs.I was nauseated for a week and would pass out on the couch by 8:30p,was up to pee a few times over night.I actually had a patient ask me if I was pregnant! Finally after 2 weeks of taking the first test my husband suggested I take another one which was the same brand.Again I thought it was negative and my husband saw the second line which again was faint.I made him go get EPT and sure enough that one came back positive! I would probably try a different brand of test that says "pregnant" or "not pregnant". I hope you have good news soon!
