HI M.! The wonderful world of potty training... I know how you feel! I can give you ideas but remember that you'll get a lot of them 'cause we moms love to give advice :) Now, I have girls so I'm not in exactly the same boat as you are but it's the same idea...
My oldest... I bribed. Yes, the all-time no no in parenting. But, it worked. Now, she didn't like her diaper so she would take it off at nap time and go on the floor. I used this to my advantage and waited one day about a week into the steam cleaner rental and when I heard that diaper come off... well, let's just say I moved. I sat her on the potty and I took two lollipops out of my pocket. I sat at the threshold of the bathroom with mine and when she went she got hers. It worked like a CHARM!
My second... Well, my dad trained her and she's not the only one I know of where someone besides "the mom" got a better response. So if you know someone patient that he looks up to it might work.
My mom swears that training a boy to "pee" in the potty is most easily accomplished by putting a few cheerios in there and having him aim at them... but I don't have the personal experience with this.
I haven't started my youngest so that's all I got right now.
Good luck! and remember that he WILL get there.. don't stress it's not the end of the world if he doesn't get it. My dad trained my five yr. old after over a month of me trying, and it was done in a DAY!
Best to you!
