He's a big boy! I have always had tall kids with bird bones. My 2 yr old is about 3 ft. 2 but only weighs about 30 pounds. How tall is your hubby? How tall are you? My hubby is 6' 3" and I'm 5' 4", but we both have 7 footers on both sides of our family. I wouldn't worry too much unless you feel he is really overweight (doesn't sound to me that he is, just a husky guy). My kids are always 90% for height and like 50% for weight... (or less)...
If your doctor thinks it is okay, and he is proportioned, just be satisfied that you made a lineman for the local football team. Big guys have to start somewhere.

If your doc doesn't seem worried you shouldn't either. Some kids just grow fast. My 4 year old is tall but my 2 is short. It's just the way things are. Hope all the advice of the mothers on here are easing your concerns. God bless.
what does your son's ped say about his size? if he doesn't seem concerned about then you shouldn't worry about it either. he does sound big, but his height & weight seem in proprrtion with each other. he may just be a big boy...nothing wrong with that. my cousin was almost 11 lbs when he was born and was always tall and stcky growing up. now he's almost 21, is over 6 ft tall and weighs over 200 lbs and wears a 15 in shoes. he's not fat at all...just a big ol' boy. is your hubby a big man or maybe a grandpa or uncle. it could just run in the family.

If you go to the website for the Centers for Disease Control (I think it's www.cdc.gov ), you can view the height/weight charts that pediatricians use to judge your child's growth. Using your child's age, weight and height, you can compare your child with the 'average' for other children his age. For example, if your child is in the 40th percentile range, then that means that he is just a bit smaller than average. On the other hand, if he was in the 60th percentile for example, then he would be slightly bigger than most kids his age. These charts are just general guidelines. If your child is smaller or bigger than the average on the chart, it doesn't mean anything is wrong.
yeah, he's a big 'ol boy!!
but i'm sure he's not the only kid out there that is big. my friends son isn't even 1 yet and he's at least 30 inches now and wears a size 4 shoe!!
As long as his doctor isn't concerned, just chalk it up to having a big kid. nothing wrong with that! maybe the NBA is in your future.... HAHA
this really isn't a strange issue for me. I have two nephews that are very very tall. both of their parents are tall and their grandpaw is 7 foot. the 3 year old is 93 pounds and stands almost 4 feet, while the 5 year old is almost 5 foot. and weighs 193 pounds. they are very very active running all the time and they love good food that is good for them. becasue of the exercise they get the doctors are not concerned. sometimes the hormones in the foods from the animals we get out meat from has caused larage children. talk with your doctor and see what they say. if you look in your family tree there may be a line that has tall people in it. but then again he may be the starting point.
My son is 4 and a half and has been at 50 lbs since turning 4 and is almost 4 feet tall. Doctor expects b/c of his past charts that he will be 6'5-6'7 when he is grown. I am only 5'7 and my husband is only 5'3. There was nothing to worry about. He's just a big boy. As long as he isn't fat, I wouldn't worry.
according to a book i have ,highth is 85% and weight is in the 90%. which means a little taller than most right now & weights what he should. (just looks good for basketball)
