It sounds like you need to go back to the doctor...you may have retained part of the placenta or their may just be serious harmonal problems going on, but no - that doesn't sound normal.

Hi E. ,,,
I think you need to get to the Dr. ASAP that is not at all night sweetie please call him know
good luck L.
It isn't normal to have pain with bleeding. If you are having a full flow each time with pain I would get an appointment with you OB/GYN.
You probably should call your OB's office. It is normal to bleed for 6 weeks or so...after your baby is born whether you had vaginal or c-section...doesn't matter. You are not supposed to use tampons until after your post-natal checkup and the doc says its OK... You could possibly have an infection - so, definitely call your OB. Don't freak out about it - just call to be safe. Hope this helps!
Hi, E.:
It's been ten years since I had my second child and while I remember post-partum bleeding, it seems it only lasted a few weeks at most. The pain could be your uterus contracting back to normal size. You're probably due for your six week post-partum check up with your OB. It sounds like you should go in and let your doctor take a look. Remember, you need to stay healthy for yourself and your baby.
E.,
Did you give birth naturally? Or Csection?? I had two c-sections, and I started bleeding almost immediately, however because I breast fed my second( first child had problems with latching)etc, I did not have my period return for three months!
Check with your doctor, you seem to be bleeding really heavy or non stop! I would think it would affect your iron levels!
He or she will be better diagnose, and it will hopefully put your mind at ease!
Good Luck!
After having a baby it is normal to bleed for up to six weeks. It is also reccomended to not use tampons after having a baby. If you are breast feeding and even if you are not your uterus contracts to become smaller during this time too. Call your doctor if you are concerned. That is what they get paid for.
Hi,
I am a senior midwife student and that does not sound normal. You might have a retained piece of placenta that is causing you to bleed too much. You need to consult your care provider.
I'd talk to your doctor, it seems pretty heavy to me. I bled for 6 weeks, but it was really light by the end. Take care and congratulations on your new little one!
It is normal to have bleeding after having a baby, but pain with it is not normal. You probably ought to get checked out by the doctor to make sure that everything is ok......remember, you are still post partum!
Good luck! I hope that you feel better soon! (((hugs))))
E.,
Call your doctor... even if this is "normal", you have enough on your plate to worry about with a new baby. You will feel better having been checked out.
Are you taking birth control pills? That can cause you to have irregular (5 times in a month) and heavy periods. A first period can come back with a vengence- terrible cramping and bleeding, at least it always does with me. However, that sounds like an unusual amount of blood, too much. You really should call the DR.
S., mom to four, pregnant with #5
This is not normal. Go to your ob/gyn immediately.
Also, you should not be using tampons yet. You should still only be using pads this soon after birth. Your insides are still trying to recover from birth. Plus, you risk infection by using tampons.
This does not sound normal to me. Please see a doctor. Also, you should not use tampons for the post-partum bleeding. Pads only, I know that's uncomfortable but you cannot risk infection or use tampons for that long a duration of time. Going through that many 6 weeks after giving birth is abnormal, in the first few days I could see it, but again, you should not use tampons at all right now and 6 weeks after delivery you should only be spotting.
Good luck, I'll keep you in my prayers.
Pls call your doctor right now!!!
No this is not normal, SEE the DR. YESTERDAY. Let him know what is going on.
This sounds highly suspect to me. Especially with the pain you are experiencing. I would call and get seen as soon as possible. It could be nothing, but I would want the doctor to tell me for absolute sure.
Good Luck and let us know!!! ;-)
It could mean you are overdoing things physically. I had small bouts of bleeding for 6 weeks after I had my baby and my midwife said it was my body's way of saying I was being too active. However, they also said not to use tampons, swim, or have sex until the bleeding had completely stopped (including any other colored discharge) because it meant there was still an open "wound" on the wall of my uterus and a chance of infection if anything got up there. I would definitely make an appointment to see your OB/GYN as soon as possible just to make sure everything is alright.
This is your excuse to take it easy!
K.
You need to get in touch with your doctor.
If you are having abnormal amounts of bleeding, more than a period and/or pain I would call your doctor!
Not normal, see your obgyn asap. The weird thing is sometimes these problems abrupt after delivery I guess a problem we may have already is aggrivated by the pregnancy bringing it to the surface after delivery. Good luck and I hope its something easily corrected.
You didn't say if you had a vaginal delivery or a c-section.
I had to have a c-section and bled for about 4 weeks and then started my period. This was completely normal.
Your body is healing from the inside out and your system is all out of whack.
As hard as it is...you need to stay off your feet, rest all you can, and do not do ANY housework for about six weeks while your body is healing. It has been through a traumatic experience.
Last but not least, call your doctor.
There could be other issues going on in there.
Good luck to you and congrats on your new little blessing.
P.S. Toss the tampons !! Ride the saddle for awhile !!
if your child is 1 and a half months old I would get myself to the dr to get checked out. I had bad bleeding like that after one of my boys and it turned out to be part of the placenta left in the uterus...had to have a dnc to get it out!
talk to you doctor, but I think it might be too early for you to use tampons.
That is not normal, call your OB. It is normal to have a few weeks of bleeding that will get progressively lighter after having a baby, but heavy bleeding as defined by going through a pad/tampon more than once and hour is cause for alarm and you should definitely talk to your OB ASAP!
Alert! Alert!
I would say you are in the danger zone.
Go see your doctor immediately!
You will need to take iron supplements because you are losing so much blood. Eat steak too! This will help greatly.
Having to use 3 bx tamp in less than 2 days is not good.
This is still most likely your post-baby bleed. I bled for nine weeks after my first baby! Call your doctor or nurse and tell them about the pain, that might not be normal and it's always nice to know for sure. I do know that severe bleeding can be a sign you are over doing it and need to rest more. You also should not use tampons until after your 6 week check, just pads. (yuck, right?)
Slow down and care for yourself and your new baby, the rest is going to have to wait as much as possible for now.
E., What you are experiencing is Not normal, you should see a good Dr. I went through a year of heavy periods, it effected me physically and emotionally. My original gyn put me on tranqualizers saying I was a stressed out Mother. That was a time when what a Dr. said was gospel with no questions asked. You'll find your hormones are in chaos too. It isn't your fault, it's a true medical issue. You need medical help - I hope you get it. Best wishes. K.
E.,
You should see your doctor if the bleeding is that heavy. Also, do not use tampons. I know pads can be uncomfortable, but tampons are not safe so soon after pregnancy.
E.,
Are you running any fever, having cramps, or otherwise feeling yuckey ?
Call your doctor. Tell him or her what you have told us. This might be a concern, and then, maybe not; but, you need a professional opinion.
Best wishes, R.
This is not normal. Call your doctor.
Get yourself back to your doctor immediately!!!!
omg! you should definitely stay away from tampons so soon after having your baby! try using pads for a couple of weeks and then maybe the bleeding will ease up. i think it is normal to bleed for several weeks after having a baby especially if it was a vaginal delivery. your uterus is probably contracting back to normal size but i would call my ob to be sure.
Sounds like you MAY have some sort of infection. Go to your doctor TODAY!
If you wait much longer-you may jeopardize the chances of having any more children.
Bleeding that heavily (3 boxes of tampons) is NOT normal.
Good luck.
If you didn't have this type of pain with your normal cycle before you were pregnant and you're having full out bleeding that's not getting lighter, I would see your doctor.
You need to let your doctor know about this as soon as possible because it could be something that needs medical attention fast. I have known of poeple with cyst that bleeds like that so please let your doctor know before you lose to much blood and have to get a blood transfusion.
