I was just wondering if there were any moms out there that may be pregnant or have been at the age of 40 or older?? I am 41 and have an 18mo. old and think I may be pregnant again? Is there anyone who has been there or is there? I just don't want to feel so alone as I do. I had joined a sing lang. class for my daughter (18 mo old) and everyone else was so young. thats ok but i just thought it would be nice to atleast know of someone closer to my age to make me feel a little normal. :) thanks

Hi K.!

I know how you feel--I'm turning 42 yrs old in a few weeks and I have a 10mo old son. I am lucky in that I have a great neighbor who also has a 10mo old daughter, and even though she is younger than I am, we do still have a lot in common. I agree with the other posters that age is a mindset only. If you ever want to talk, please feel free to email.

My husband and I have been discussing having another child--I don't know that that will happen but who knows...

Best,
V.

Advanced maternal age does make you feel a little isolated. There is a great community on the website baby center. Look under commumity and seaech through the message boards. You will find a community for women "pregnant 40 and older".

Good luck to you.

K.,
You are absolutley blessed as I am sure you know - I am 40 and desperately wanted at least one more child and I am unable to get pregnant right now - my clock is ticking -
Whatever you do take the best care you can of yourself and keep up with your doctor-
P.S. I went back to college at 28 and had my second child at 31 in the midst of 19 yr olds - Just enjoy your self and your gift.

Hi K.,

I am a 43 year old mother of 3 beautiful children! I am not pregnant, however, I would be thrilled if I got pregnant. Age is only a number; as long as you feel good, don't worry about your age. My mother was 45 years old when she had my sister. People thought she was crazy, but my mother embraced her pregnancy just like all the rest (she has 6 kids). Now my sister is 26 years old and has a baby of her own. She is a wonderful mother and a terrific sister. I couldn't imagine our life without her! Good luck and if you need any help, I know of a "Mother's Helper".

Hi K.. I'm not pregnant, nor am I a sahm, but I am 38 with a two year old & just thought I wanted to say hi! There are others of "us" out here. :0) I know what you mean. I always feel like the oldest mommy. Even reading on here - everyone is in their twenty's. I have a great little girl who is the joy of my husband's & my life. It's not easy but I find that we have more patience - less energy! - at our ages.

I agree with some of the others. As long as you feel good and are still pretty active, that's all that matters! There are lots of 45 year olds who are "youthful-minded" and lots of 25 year olds who are "older". It's an individual thing. I was so worried people might mistake me as my baby's grandmother - I am 39, she is 15 months. I can honestly say that hasn't happened once, not even close.

I had my first daughter when I was 37 and my second when I was 40. I am 41 now and think the whole advanced maternal age thing is silly. I am just as healthy as everyone else and had no problems at all with either of my pregnancies. With my second pregnancy my blood tests came back somewhat elevated and I had the amnio done. I am really glad I did becasue there was absolutely nothing wrong. A friend of mine had the same thing happen to her and she did not get the amnio and tortured herself with worry for the entire pregnancy. Her son is a healthy happy boy! Just take care of yourself and be healthy, exercise and be happy and you will be just fine. Try not to let the extra monitoring bother you either. It is just routine! Good luck!

Hi K.,
My mother was going through menopause and found a lump in her breast. During the screening for her mammogram they did a pregnancy test on her as a precaution. Needless to say yes she was pregnant at 40. She was fine.......she had a normal pregnancy and my little brother who is now 12 is healthy. Don't worry just take care of yourself and your baby with the help of God will be fine. Good luck with your new addition.

Try the website www.matchingmoms.org It's a great site geared toward helping moms and their kids connect with one another. It's free to use and I'm sure there are a ton of other moms within your local area and within your age group looking for friendship :-D HTH!
