I am scheduled to have surgery on September 25th for an endometrial ablation. while I am sure this will cease my heavy bleeding each month, I am more concerned with recovery time. I would like some imput as to how long the recovery time really is. Thanks for your time in this regard.

I'm sorry that I don't have personal experience, but my coworker just had this surgery on Monday. (Yes, 3 days ago.) She was at work yesterday...
She had the same symptom of heavy bleeding, and I'm almost 99% sure the name of her surgery is what you're having done.
She seemed tired yesterday, but other than that, she was doing her normal clerical duties without a problem.

I honestly felt no pain at all--just discomfort--I just rested the one day and I was back to normal routine the next---mine did not work as much (meaning they did not cease) as they had hoped only because I had had 2 C-sections--they say it works better on people who have had vaginal births---good luck and you will be so happy that you did it!
I had this procedure done 3 years ago (both novasure and essure) at the same time. I was crampy that day and that was it. My periods are practically nonexistant. However, I do wonder how that effects my hormones - I'm sure the doctors say it doesn't effect them at all. Good luck!

No Worries! I just had it done 3 weeks ago (Aug 5th) and it was the best thing I ever did! I had mild cramping and was tired 2-3 days after. I only bled for 3-4 days with slight discharge for 2 days and now for the first time in 18 months no tampons or pads or liners! Wooohooo! Just had my check up this past Monday and everything is fine. While I can still have a light period (10% chance) it will be better than what I was going thru! You will be sooooo thankful you did it and you won't feel anything! I had general anestesia and was out for an hour tops.

I had Novasure done on a Friday last Nov and was crampy and tired that evening, but felt okay Sat (went to my kids' Santa Brunch). Back to normal by Monday.
Best thing I ever did - I wish I had done it sooner! I had endometriosis and had terrible heavy periods. And I was one of the lucky ones who have no period at all now! Nothing! I also had 3 C-sections and a large fibroid.
Ablation doesn't affect your hormones at all - it simply removes the uterine lining.

I just had a thermal balloon ablation on August 20th. The day of the surgery was pretty painful and once we got home from the hospital, I spent the rest of the day in bed. We got home around 1 pm and by 5 pm that evening, the cramping was gone, but still felt very groggy. I was told at the hospital that I could not drive for 2 days post surgery. The following day, I was up and about, but stayed on one floor of the house and took it easy, but felt fine, just some Motrin here and there. By Friday I was back to my usual routine, but found that too much activity would leave me feeling a little drained. I was told to "take it easy" for a couple of days but that is nearly impossible with a family to take care of and because I felt fine. My advice to you would that even though you will probably feel fine, take it easy, and remind yourself that you just had surgery!! My doc told me that my next cycle may not reveal the true results, that it may take a month or so before it gets better. Good luck.

My doctor said you can still get pregnant after the surgery. She advised me not to do it . She feels a low dose estrogen, like Yaz was a better choice. Did you try that first? You may want a second opinion. Several doctors I had spoken to advised against the surgery. I had a few friends have it done, some did well some did not. There are so very many estrogen pills out there on the market to try. I do believe it is short procedure and they say you have a short recovery time, like days and you are on your feet. Every woman's body is different. Like I said, a few of my friends were up and running more quickly than others. Some were pleased, some were not! I wish you good health!!!!!!

I had the same surgery a couple of years ago. I was very sore for about two days and then just mildly sore for the following week. They gave me pain medication, but I did not really need it. My surgery was done with a laproscope and I have one TINY scar in my belly button. Hopefully yours goes as smoothly. Good luck!!
