Oh poor baby. Will she suck on some ice so she at least get water down? If she is not eating, sleeping or drinking, she is really in pain and you may just have to let her guide you when she is ready to eat and just help make her comfortable. Just keep offering food until she is ready to try something.

I would alternate giving her Tylenol with Children's Motrin to help ease the pain. Once the pain is under control, then try food and the cocktail they sent you home with.

Poor baby and I bet your daughter feels awful for spreading this virus. It is a terrible virus for a child to have. I hope it stays in just her mouth. Do not let her have access to her genital area or it will end up there too.

Have her checked out for thrush. Thats what it sounds like to me. Very contagous and needs to be treated.

Are you giving tylenol/motrin at the SAME time? Call your ped for specific dosing and to make sure this is a safe choice for your child. Then wait about 30 mins and offer food that is bland and soft. Hydration is the most important thing right now, food can wait a few days even but liquid is a MUST! When my nephew had Hand/Foot/Mouth the only thing he would drink was sprite through a straw. Something about the carbonation coupled with the rare treat of having soda was enough motivation to get him drinking. Good luck, Im sure it is so hard to see you sweet baby suffering, I hope she finds some relief!

Go back to the doctor again. did they give her medicine for thrush? that is what it sounds like she has. and if so then there is a specific medicine that will need to be swooshed around in her mouth several times a day for like 10 days. baby's can get it and its hard to get rid of. have to sterilize everything that goes in the baby's mouth. (bottles, cups, nipples etc)

Hi A.,

Fever blisters will not appear (or can be caught) if the immune system is working right. Melaleuca oil will heal them and ice will slow the metabolism of the virus down so no more will appear but the main thing you need to do is improve your daughter's immune systems. All of us that have had chicken pox or shingles or has a mother that passed the virus to us in utero have a dormant virus that will rare it's ugly head when our immune system is weak.

There are simple ways to pump up the immune system and if you're interested, I can give you a run down of what we have done in our home. We hardly ever get sick and if we do, it's quite short lived and normally no one else catches it. Antibiotics and the other meds you have given her are simply weakening the immune system more. They may target a certain issue but their bodies will be more susceptible to catch them again.

Hope this helps...
