i started my daughter out simalc advanced and it made her really gassy. she is now on nestle good start and she does fine with. lucky for me she was never really colicy. the dr browns bottles are supposed to help reduce colic as well as swaddling and swinging.

C.,

I will tell you that my first son, who is now 13 was on it and he did much better, however, with my second child somebody recommended that since Alimentum is so expensive that I try Carnation Good Starts before I used Alimentum this time. It worked just as well and is cheaper then Alimentum. Please try it. You won't believe the difference in your baby that you'll notice. It was amazing. I will tell you that Alimentum did work wonders on my first son, and I was going to put my second son on it, as well, however once I tried Good Starts I was hooked. Good luck. My youngest is now 16 months old, so if you need any advice, feel free to email me. My email is ____@____.com.

Thanks and all the luck

Neither of my children were really "colicly" but. When my daughter was born she was on Similac Advance (the regular not the soy) And when we came home from the hospital because I was on WIC they switched her to Regular Goodstart. She didn't do well on it. She started getting to what most consider colic. So they switched her to the Goodstart Soy. Boy that got even worse. She would scream like someone was hurting her. This was unusual since she was normally a quiet baby. Soon as we switched her back to the Similac Advance and didn't have aproblem after. With my son he started out on Regular goodstart and was switched to the soy. He did fairly well but was acting like it would bother him. He was spitting up often. So I convinced the dr to switch him to the similac soy instead of Goodstart and ever since then he has spit up maybe 5 times and he'll be 10 mths old next week. My point in is not all formula's are right for all babies. I have heard of alot of people having problems with they're children and Goodstart. I personally find the Similac to be better. But that is my opinion. I would try talking to your ped and see what they recomend and then just try to find one that eases the colic. Well I hope this may help a lil.

It is the same thing as Enfamil Nutramigen, but made by Similac. My son was on Soy formula and still was fussy and had poop probs. So the pediatrician put him on Nutramigen. I think the whole premise behind it is that these formulas are already partially digested(don't ask me how) so they are easier on their tummies. They are super expensive, but it worked so well for my baby that I am glad I did it. I actually bought it on ebay and got it cheaper than the store. But if you do get it at the store- Walmart is the cheapest by $2. WE eventually put him back on soy and he was fine. He was probably on the Nutramigen for a little over 2 months. After that he had no problems at all. The spitting up, fussing and poop probs all stopped. Good Luck.

My daughter didn't have colic, but she had bad reflux. We used the Alimentum for about 3 months, and changed her to Enfamil AR, which helped tremendously too. The Dr. Brown bottles are definitely a life saver too.

My daughter was on it for about 11 months. She wasn't really colicky but had some other issuses and like you this was the last choice on formula. It is very expensive but it was well worth the money! It mad a world of difference. She would not take the enfamil brand of it. The GI doctor told us that it really does not taste very well and the similac has a sweeter taste. If you haven't alreasy make sure you join the similac welcome addition club. They will send you coupons and when you are spending that much money on formula you want it! We even signed up other friends and relatives who give us the coupons when they sent them to us. Good luck and feel free to contact me if you have any more questions.

My first son was severely colicky as well . . . hang in there! Things will eventually improve! I was breastfeeding and COMPLETELY avoided dairy products - which helped some, but in no way solved things. We tried various formulas to give me a break, and he wouldn't take them (Alimentum, Nutramigen) - - until we tried Carnation Good Start Soy - and he tolerated it very well.

So, I agree with Kim - give Carnation Good Start a try - and even start with their soy formula.
