wondering if any moms have experienced a fluid leak early in pregnancy? My came with quite a bit of blood and my dr assummed it was a miscarry (and urine) I'm positive it wasn't urine, and now that she's found the heartbeat, she said "everything's fine" like no big deal. According to the internet, everything's not fine, and now it's fri and office closed. Anybody had this experience?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi Everyone,
I am writing to thank everybody for the support, advice, and ideas that you all had- they all got me through a very worrisome time. Also, I wanted you all to know "what happened". I ended up switching doctors, and my new doctor gave me an ultrasound right away and discovered that I had miscarried a twin. The other baby is doing fine and developing normally. Glad it is behind me, and getting bigger everyday. Thanks again, C. T.

You poor dear. I know it frightened you to death. I had th is happen to me. I was so scared. But I went to the doctor that night and they found my baby's heartbeat. I was put on restricted activity for the first three months of the pregnancy. No lifting, limited stairs, etc. I have a healthy wonderful little boy now so good luck to you.

Hello Cathrine, I experienced a fluid leak late in my pregnancy about at 28 weeks. It doesn't matter how far along you are you go to the er. Don't second guess and think everything is alright. I lost my baby 16 months ago i cant even begin to tell you how much pain i feel in my heart and how i regret trusting in my doctor..She said everything was fine and sent me home. I had lost fluid on Tuesday called her that morning she said to wait for my appointment on Thursday so i did. She found a heartbeat but to me it was very faint.. pressed down on my tummy and said there was plenty of fluid in there and that was it she showed no concern what so ever..A few days later i called her again to tell her i hadn't felt the baby move in over 24 hours..Don't think she said come on in or meet me at the er..she had me come in that afternoon by then the baby was gone..no fluid it was dry..so my advise to you is go get checked make sure the baby is okay..

I am a midwife and I have seen this before. It could be a couple of different things. The fluid could have come from a break between the amnion and chorion which are the two layers of the sac. Sometimes they can get fluid trapped in between and this is what leaked out. Or it could be a small break that occured in the bag and it has now healed. Or you could have miscarried a twin which would explain the blood. The best thing to do is take some extra vitamin E and vitamin C over the next few days and drink lots of extra water. If there was a break in the bag this will help heal it and help your body produce more amniotic fluid. The vitamin C will also strenghten the bag. Since there is a heart beat and as long as you do not continue to leak fluid, you and the baby are most likely fine.

I had PPROM (partial premature rupture of membranes) at 32 weeks. The midwife tested and received a positive for amnio. The hospital tested and received a negative. They told me it was just urine and to move along. The midwife and I knew for certain that it was amnio. So I went on bed rest and had to practice sterile technique -- wearing sterile pads, rinsing the area with water/betadine after going to the bathroom, etc. You know your body best and if you think it was amnio, it probably was. I would try to rest as much as possible and wear pads. If you are still experiencing that leaky feeling, try to gather some of the fluid to take in for testing.

Hi C.,
Sorry to hear about your problem. I would suggest you stay very close to your dr. and look for anything that you feel is not "the norm". you could have miscarried a twin- as my mother in law did- My hubby was a quad and in her 7th month she lost two- so that is one possibility. If the heart beat is strong and there is no other leak then i would think you are fine.
Good luck and manny blessings

GET A SECOND OPIONION!!! There should be some extra checks done if for no other reason than to ease your mind. Yes as long as you are doing well and not in any pain everything should be just fine. But for your health and that of your precious unborn baby, ask your doctor for an ultrasound, and if she won't do it. Get another doctor. To many times doctors blow women off as everything being in our heads, just take some extra precautions, like staying off your feet as much as possible (and I know with a 20 month old that is not possible all the time) and don't overlift. Have your other child climb into your lap to be held instead of bending over to pick her up or have your husband hand her to you. Just be cautious until you know for sure that everything is ok.

About three months into my third pregnancy, I did have a slight leak, stayed in bed for two days and except for that, had a normal pregnancy and a healthy baby.

I don't know how helpful this information will be to you but it is what happened to me. Our baby girl is fine.

You know your body. I would go to the ER. Also try to stay off your feet and avoid vaginal ultrasounds and sexual activity for a while.
I am so sorry that this has happened to you. On top of all the other scary things that happen naturally when you're pregnant, this happens.
I hope it all works out for you.
With prayer and love,
C.

when i was early on in the pregnancy i had alot of discharge. just like mucus. kinda. and then i had some blood. my doctor told me that it was quite normal and it happens to most moms to be..he called it attachment blood. he explained it to me as the baby was just getting acquainted with his new home. if the heartbeat is ok then i wouldnt let it bother you..more than likely you are gonna have a healthy baby..Good Luck. God bless you!

I remember when I was pregnant with my daughter I leaked some in the second trimester and there was blood. It was a Saturday and I called my doctor and he said to take it easy for the weekend and I was like... that's it???? Everything was okay and he said it was normal. But if you have ANY concerns at all, go to the ER and get ckecked out. Try to relax and take it easy and I know it is almost impossible, but try not to worry and get stressed out as that is not good for your pregnancy. Think Possitive and enjoy being pregnant.

I second what both of the other women said. It could easily be that you leaked some fluid and your bag has resealed...or your forebag broke and caused you to leak a little amniotic fluid. You and your baby are more than likely just wonderful, however, I would call your doctor, set up an appointment for monday....but get him/her on the phone and make them reassure you. Tell them you are still worried. This is what your doc is there for - why they make the big bucks. If that doesn't ease your mind - then go to the emergency room or make an appointment with another doctor. Bleeding is not uncommon during pregnancy and could be caused by a myriad of things - but it should definitely be looked at and you should leave the doctor knowing the WHY - so you can take steps to manage the problem. Get your feet up and drink lots of water and eat lots of protein. good luck!

Please don't get on the internet to check on things because most of the time you will freak yourself out, this is what I did during my pregnancy especially during the early times and was constantly thinking something was wrong. The internet has a lot of inaccurate information and people become misinformed and worry. Just get a second opinion for peace of mind. Good luck.
