Another Cell Phone Question

I have used Outlook forever and a day (seriously, the last 15 years), and have used both Blackberry and iPhone without any problems. It works best if the Outlook is hosted on an Exchange server (otherwise, you have to delete emails on both the phone and the computer, which is kind of a hassle, and whatever you send on the phone doesn't show up in sent messages on the computer, and vice versa). But even without an Exchange server involved, it should still work (i.e. receive emails on the phone, calendar updates, etc).

My recommendation is for your husband to ask around at work and see if anyone can help him set up his email on his phone. If there's an IT department, someone there can set it up in a matter of 10 minutes. That is what I've always done. :)

In terms of which actual phone, I was a Blackberry girl for 10+ years and thought I could never live with the lack of keyboard on an iPhone. I finally made the switch about 2 years ago and after about a week of struggling with the touch-screen typing, my fingers figured it out, and I haven't looked back. I would whole-heartedly recommend the iPhone for business use, even for someone who thinks they want a "real" keyboard. I hope that helps!!

But maybe it will help your husband see what troubles others are having, or why it's not working well.

My phone is a Droid and is paid-for through my workplace. It interfaces with my Outlook Calendar and it's pretty good. It's a Verizon account and aside from typing on the screen- he shouldn't have an issue. You just have to "sync" everything to the phone. You do have to have a Gmail account to "sync", so make sure he has one. The IT guys here did my phone set-up, but it took literally 10 minutes and I now have all of my email accounts, Outlook calendar and FB delivered to my phone.

I did some quick research and it looks like one way to make this happen would be to set up a Google Calendar (he probably had to set up a Google account when he got the phone -- if not, he can do it for free online), then sync THAT with Outlook (http://support.google.com/calendar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&am.... Then use the Google Calendar on the phone (I'm sure there's an app for that, maybe even a native program on the phone) and it should sync w/Outlook.

Yes this phone will synch with outlook based products. That said - if it is his work email he wants to set up he needs to get the information from his company to set up. I am sure it is just outlook he uses at work - and is an exchange server. There are some places where it requires specific information from the company for the phone. Also work has to set his account up so it can be synched with the phone. At this point the issue is not verizon it is just a matter of talking to the employer and getting the information you need. He should be able to access his work e-mail on it. Is his email on an exchange server? Because he may have to either talk to someone at verizon-a technical person about it or even the computer people at work to find out the code that he needs.

Unfortunately I don't have my droid with me so I can't look it up. But you have different settings and he just needs to make sure his is set up so he can access it.

That probably isn't descriptive enough or probably doesn't make any sense but feel free to email me and I can try and talk it out more or even with pictures if that is helpful. I just need to know what server his email is.

I know you sound outlook but can he also check it online with web-outlook?
