Have you looked on etsy.com? They have some wonderful handcrafted items. I ordered some cheese plates made from recycled wine bottles that are really cute for $18.
There have been a few of these lately so I'll throw mine in, too. One side of my family is doing a white elephant party this year instead of everyone having to buy gifts for everyone else, or drawing names. Ladies are supposed to bring a gift for ladies. I'm having trouble deciding on something that would appeal to a diverse group. We're ages from 20 to a spry 95. Some are tom-boy, some are girly-girl. Several of us have recently moved but I don't think we're missing anything. Some married, some single, some widowed or divorced. All fun-loving. I don't think anyone would appreciate knick knacks, candles, or that sort of thing. We've recently had some Pampered Chef parties so I don't want to do anything kitchen-related. I know that someone else is bringing some picture frames. The price limit is $20. TIA!
Thanks everybody, for the ideas. I decided to go with the "movie night" theme. I picked up some popcorn, a huge chocolate bar, and the DVD "Eat, Pray, Love." It was fought over so I guess I did good :)

What about a NICE $20 umbrella? Everyone can use O. of those & I would never spend $20 on an umbrella! But I'd like to get O.. :-)
how about movie tickets for 2?
Wine...always a hit.
(:
I always just bring something that I would like and then I try to steal it and get my own gift! LMAO ~ Gift cards are always big hits at our family white elephant parties - or DVD's those are what the guys usually fight over.....LOL
We do this in our church group and the gift for the guys that all of them wanted was a twig with a bunch of fishing stuff on it and it is still talked about 15 years later.
For the girls the most wanted gift was a manicure, time away from the kids and so relaxing.
We do this for Christmas Eve. Loads of fun. We have had pictures, a quilt with Christmas and the year embroided on it, bath & body stuff, perfume, metal wall art (like the tin ceiling tiles), antiques (since we are all into that), movie basket (like someone else suggested), tons of items. And our limit is $25 so really close to yours.
A gift certificate for a manicure or pedicure!
The best "white elephant" gift I ever got was a pair of Isotoner gloves. I've had them for years and they make your hands feel like heaven. It's winter and I don't know anyone who couldn't use a really nice pair of gloves.
Have fun!
A Gift card for Victoria's Secret! There is something there for all ages!!! Those are my favorite GC's!!!
2 ideas:
No-Sew Fleece Blanket (a fav for all ages!)
Scratch Off Lottery Tickets
Movie theater certificates (most towns have either a Rave or Carmike chain in them), Large chain restaurant gift card. I love local gift cards to places that you know will be used. Starbucks gift card, etc., etc.,
how about this? It's a fun game.

Or the game 'Apples to Apples'. Or a bottle of wine. Or a really cool frame that has multiple openings for photos.
We do this with our family too. My standard to take for the last couple of years has been the Bath & Body Works handsoaps! You can get those most of the time 3 for $10!
You could do a "movie night" basket... microwave popcorn, g.c. to rent/buy a movie, cozy socks and either a mug with hot chocolate mix or a fancy wine glass with a small bottle of wine (or a wine stopper)
a watch tom boys and girly girls will wear them. any age will wear them I am a tom boy and love jewlery just not goddy jewlery. what about a gag gift they are always fun and every time I get one others say I wish I had gotten that. my other half is getting a charilie brown christmas tree for christmas walgreens for $10
That sounds easier than our family..... we have a $10 limit which can be really hard. I've seen Steering Wheel Covers (fancy ones for the women), Lottery Tickets, Those Flat Wallets that come in all colors, Pink Tool Kit, Perfumes. Keep your eyes open and you will see all kinds of things.
