I use Covergirl Lash Exact. It costs about $6.50, but it doesn't clump and it lasts all day long. I love it and it's better then any mascara I've ever used. I hope this helps!

I'm trying to find a new mascara. I've used a Mary Kay one for years and I don't know if they've changed the formula or what, but it just seems clumpier and thicker than it used to be. It's a fresh product and the last couple I've purchased just seem to be goopier and flake off and make my eye lashes stick together. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good mascara that goes on smooth and doesn't clump and stays all day?
Thanks so much!
Hey Ladies...
Thanks for all the great suggestions - lots of good options out there. I bought and have tried the cover girl "Exact lash" - the one in the purple bottle that lots of you mentioned. I like it - it's not at all clumpy and goes on really easily. So far it's wearing well. I like the look of darker, thicker, yet NATURAL lashes, and this seems to be working well. The price is right and I like the applicator too. Thanks again!

I was watching the Today Show a few weeks ago, and they had a cosmetic expert giving her top picks, and the mascara she chose is Cover Girl Lash Exact (about $7.50). She said the wand was made up of something different than other mascaras and that is why the mascara doesn't stick to the wand and get goopy with the Lash Exact. I can't remember what the wand is made of, but hopefully that helps. Plus, it's probably a lot cheaper than Mary Kay and you can get it whenever you want.
I swear by Almay One Coat Thickening. I find it awesome and every now and then Almay packages two on a card for teh price of one! That is a great value for us frugal shoppers.
K.,
I get so many compliments when I were either
"Loreal" Double Extend waterproof black or
"Maybelline" Intense XXL
Both have the white extender brush which goes on first. I let the white dry on my lashes for a minute or two and then I put on the darker color.
I bet you will love the way your eyes look when you wear one of these products.
Good luck looking

Revlon "Lash Fantasy" is great. It has a white, conditioning primer you put on your lashes first, then you apply the color. It is waterproof, doesn't clump, and lasts through the day and through my evening workout. I was a Maybelline "Great Lash" user for years, but it think this stuff is even better.
I have one that I like. It's by Cover girl, but for the life of me I can't think of what it is called. It is in a purple tube, and the applicater is seperate from the tube in the package. The applicater itself is different from most other mascara's, and that is what is good about the product. it prevents clumping and goes on smoothly. I have not had any problems with it. Hope this helps!
I like Clinique makeup all together

You should ask your Mary Kay consultant, your product can be EXCHANGED for a different one. Mary Kay products are ALWAYS evolving just like every other Cosmetic Company that is in business. Everyone has a mission to be "CUTTING EDGE".
Now, with that said, There are Three Formulas to try, if your having problems with one, try another before you change brands entirely.
IF YOU CHANGE BRANDS, make sure that they are OPHTHALMOLOGY TESTED as Mary Kay Cosmetics are, also, we are a member of PETA and use NO ANIMAL PRODUCTS in our Cosmetics. Other CHEAPER PRODUCTS have animal fat in them.
JUST THINK, DO YOU WANT TO USE THE GREASE FROM THE FRENCH FRIES OF YOUR FAVORITE FAST FOOD ON YOUR EYES OR DO YOU WANT A SAFE AND CLEAN PRODUCT?
I used to be a Manager for a BIG Fast Food Company and we sold our "USED GREASE" to a Major Cosmetic Company! YUCK!!!!
The Best thing about having a Mary Kay Consultant is she can work WITH YOU and EXCHANGE products that the "STORES" would NEVER DO! Talk with your Consultant, I'm sure you two can find a product that works for you.
It sounds like you got the ULTIMATE MASCARA, that is NEW, some women can use it with no problems, others have flaking.
Try the Lash Lenghting or the Waterproof Formulas. I personally like the Waterproof, no flaking and no trouble, I have the most sensitive eyes and understand how you feel. The Ultimate formula was not for me either.
Please ask your Consultant to TELL you if she is giving you something NEW or NEW AND IMPROVED. Or check out her web-site frequently to see for yourself.
And always remember we are NOT the STORES we will EXCHANGE product for you at NO ADDITIONAL COST, if it is NOT working for you.
K. I hope this helps you and let me know how it goes.

Hi K.,
I would recommend you find one that doesn't contain lead - yes lead. That's what they add to make it long lasting. Here's a web site where you can get a lead-free mascara (along with a whole line of healty products.) http://www.shaklee.net/changinglives/product/CosmeticsEyes
Let me know what you think. This is the only brand I will use since I learned of the toxic ingredients in most every other brand.
Hi K.,
I used to be a Mary Kay user as well (Mom sells it). I have used Maybelline "Sky High Curves" It's available in waterproof and washable. Give it a try and see what you think. It's about $6.99 a tube.
Two great ones are Almay triple effect mascara and Rimmel volume flash I have used them both and really like them.
Arbonne beauty products are the best! They're botanically based and they really work! If you want any information, e-mail me directly! ____@____.com
Hello K.,
I think a lot of products get bad reviews because people don't apply them right. Some products really do suck though and few of us have been blessed with dark, long, full lashes.
I have to say that Lancome is my all time favorite. Especially Amplicils. But right now my all time holy grail favorite mascara is L'oreal Voluminous with the curved brush. It tends to deposit a lot of product on the brush so you have to wipe it but it is great for my pale and sparse lashes. I've received so many complements with this one. You have to apply it careful though to avoid clumping. The secret is in the application and that applies to any mascara: 1) curl lashes with curler 2)wipe brush 3) then look down and apply the brush at the base and wiggle it 4) move the brush up while you are looking up and rest the brush for a second on the lash ends and try to "curl" them with the brush. Repeat. Simple: look down then move brush up while you are looking up and rest a little on the ends.
Try it.

I have been on a lifelong quest to find the perfect mascara. I am also 37. I finally found one that is great for me, although I am tempted to try some of the ones suggested here today! What I look for in a mascara may not be what you are looking for, so take my advice for what it is worth. I like my makeup to look VERY natural. The best mascara I have found (and I have been using for about 5 years now) is Clinique "Naturally Glossy." It is about $12 but SO worth every penny. I do not use only Clinique products. I am pretty frugal, but this is one thing I can't live without. Good luck! That was a GREAT question!
I also am a huge fan of the AVON superfull which i also sell but i've used most of the AVON products and i love them if you would like to purchase any or would like a book please email me at ____@____.com i hope you find the mascara thats perfect for you. {if you do order from someone remember that if you don't like it you can return it for a full refund!!}
I have tried about every brand available and the one I like the most is Jane. It is very cheap, which surprises me that it is good. But it is thin which means no clumping, and it lasts all day.
I live by Lancome makeup. I have never had a bad experience with their makeup. They have all different types and colors I think they range from $18-$24 but they are well worth it!
Avon Superfull is wonderful!
Hi K.!
Try a botanical based product with no harmful ingredients like Arbonne's About Face Lash colour. It has Sandalwood, nettle and rosemary extracts, and Vitamins C and E. It's a two in one combo product with a colorless primer agent that conditions and preps lashes plus a water resistant lash coloring (not waterproof because Arbonne does not use mineral oil or animal by products in their formulations).
Also try the Virtual Illusion™ Lash Enhancer - Just launched in Feb. 08.
Magnify your eyelashes with this science-based, nourishing formula that helps transform the appearance of volume, texture, density and radiant shine in lashes. Strengthening and conditioning ingredients revitalize lashes, helping to prevent breakage and loss, and promote naturally longer, thicker-looking eyelashes.
Enjoy!

hi K., i have also been trying to find the perfect nonclumping mascara, and I FOUND IT! it is a little more expensive but worth every penny ($16.50)! it is from sephora it is the URBAN DECAY brand and the type is skyscraper mascara. my eyes (along with my skin) is extremely sensitive, with eye product especially but this mascara is fantastic it has the most unique brush that allows you to get every single lash. I don't live around a sephora but i will drive the 40 minutes just to get to one for this mascara, i'll never try another one again because it's perfect!
I used to use Mary Kay too :) I love Cover Girl mascera for every day use. My favorite used to be in the red tube, but now I love the new purple tube called "lash exact" (from the Queen Latifa Cover Girl commercial). My other favorite is Clinique lash doubling mascera (for nights out since it's more expensive).
Hope this helps!
Hello K.. Great question. Well, I happen to like waterproof mascaras the best. I usually end up with racoon eyes using anything else. I use Covergirl Marathon Mascara, Lancome's waterproof mascara, and Mary Kay's waterproof mascara. I use and sell MK products and MK's waterproof is the only one I can use. Also, don't forget to toss your mascara out every 2 to 3 months after opening to avoid clumping and bacteria. I hope you find what your looking for. Take care.
Hi K.-
Good question! Maxfactor 2000 is wonderful. People would comment on my lashes from that all the time. I've recently purchased another maxfactor and that one was good too, but I forget the name. Also covergirl's remarkable is descent. Hope that helps!
Hi K.,
I have tried many mascaras over the years and I have recently found a brand that I love. The brand is Urban Decay and you can buy it at Sephora. If you live near the Kenwood Towne Center in Cincinnati then they have a Sephora store where you can go and try out all of the different products and get recommendations from the people who work there. You can also browse online at Sephora.com.
