Hi ladies,

I have to be at work on Saturday very early and I know won't have a chance to eat until I get out of work. Any ideas for a quick breakfast or something that I can take with me? I usually am not the kind of person who can eat at 6am though. So any suggestions? Usually I eat eggs and turkey bacon, but I know I will have a busy day. Any ideas or recipes?

Thanks ladies!!!!

What can I do next?

I cook my husband's breakfast at night and he heats it up the next morning. I do eggs, bacon, and potatoes. he heats it up and puts it in a tortilla and has a breakfast taco. The bacon stays crispy and the eggs aren't gross.
Sometimes, he'll take the taco in a plastic baggie and heats it up at work right in the baggie.

I find that when I have days I need to eat early and it will be awhile before the next square meal I must have protein and / or oatmeal.

My quickie meal is always a big bowl of oatmeal. The real kind. Not prepackaged, presweetened ones. You can make it with soy milk and cinnamon and apples. My fav. Oatmeal just sustains me like no other grain.

Then brown up some sausages once a week, and reheat those when you need a couple. You can put a couple of sausage in a baggie and eat in transit or have with a cup of tea later.

If you have a slow-cooker, you can make oatmeal - real oatmeal, not the flavored instant stuff. Just set it up the night before and have it cook overnight. I make mine with steel-cut oats and add wheat germ and flax seed meal. Then in the morning you can add nuts, dried fruit, maple syrup or honey, etc. Combine that with Greek yogurt for protein and you should be good to go! And it's very healthy too!

Waffel with cream cheese, or a bagel is always easy. Theres always yogurt to go with whatever you take as well.
Or if you do cook make a egg muffin. They are quick, easy and tasty.

Hi Katie :-)

Hard boiled eggs travel well and can be eaten any time depending on your work schedule. Already cooked bacon is great too as a simple travel companion. A nice banana will be delicious, too!

Enjoy,

I spray some Pam in a large coffee mug sometimes and mix a egg or two with a fork and some cheese and bacon crumbles while I'm toasting an English muffin. I microwave the egg for a minute, flip it, and microwave it again until it is firm (you can add some spinach, too) and make a quick breakfast sandwich to go.

Other than that, I am pretty boring with my breakfasts and have a yogurt and cereal or toast and then oatmeal mid-morning at work. When I'm not pregnant or otherwise I like a Slim Fast shake or breakfast bar.

Lite English Muffin toasted with a slice of turkey and lowfat cheese. Put it in a toaster oven to melt the cheese. Fiber One and Fiber Plus makes good bars.

I prefer longer lasting food for breakfast... like a toasted sammie with melty cheese, or dinner leftovers, myself.

K.,
I love my Shaklee shake. I have had it almost every morning for 15 years. I teach exercise every morning, so I can't handle solid food then.

Fruit smoothies, bars (Costco sells organic oatmeal bars - yummy)! Also, you can bake blueberry oatmeal muffins or blueberry oatbran muffins the night before and just grab one to go in the morning (I always use at least half of the sugar the recipe calls for).

Force yourself to wolf down a bowl of oatmeal. Doctor it up a little with pulverized flax seed, some raisins, apple chunks and walnut pieces... eat it with a piece of whole wheat toast and your wont be hungry for quite a few hours.
The instant, already flavored, oatmeal packets are almost just as healthy as the kind cooked on the stove top. I eat a bowl EVERY morning except for wknds----that's bacon and eggs and biscuits and gravy time ;)

Protein shake with frozen fruit.
A breakfast wrap, you can use any type of tortilla, and any filling that suits you.
A waffle, or muffin with nut butter
Yogurt with granola mixed in, and some pumpkin or sunflower seeds, or almonds, cashews, raisins, dried cranberries. You get the idea!

Hard boil eggs the night before. Bring a few with you and add some salt and pepper. Also, make bacon the night before and bring it with you. You can heat it in the microwave at work.

I love the Luna S'mores protein bar with a banana and a cup of 2% milk. Gets you your protein, potassium, and a some carbs to help you keep going without crashing.

Just my two cents,
R.
