Hi there. I am due to give birth in Dec, and have been following the Paleo diet for a few months now and would like to continue to do so.
Paleo diet has a lot of nuts and eggs in there, and I want to nurse, but I know these are not the best to eat while nursing. Any of you out there do this and have any good substitutions?
Thx in advance!

What can I do next?

There's no concern about eating nuts, eggs, dairy, or any other common allergy food UNLESS there's a family history. Allergies can pop up at any time, to anything (without any family history), at which point one does an elimination diet. There's no reason to live as if you have an allergy in your life unless you actually do have one.

Well i don't know anything about that diet but protein is great while nursing! Protein and lots of water are like the best things to keep your milk good and strong. while nursing my second I ate two hard boiled eggs and snacked on nuts everyday. It's totally fine unless your baby acts like he/she has tummy problems then you might have to change what you eat.

I started the Paleo 2 weeks ago and am nursing my youngest. I have a friend who just recently gave birth and 2 weeks after the birth, she started the Paleo and is very pleased. She is nursing and it didn't bother her newborn or affect her supply. Imo, you're eating whole, REAL food on the Paleo diet.

Congrats on your pregnancy!
Best of luck,
J.

I've been paleo since 08 and have been so through 2 pregnancies and am currently nursing my second child. Eggs are my standard breakfast and I eat alot of nuts. My first child, age 17 months, is also paleo (+goat milk). I bake her gluten free snacks using recipes from elanaspantry.com.

First, I would avoid peanuts anyways (technically not paleo because they are legumes). Most 'nut' allergies are to peanuts only, not other nuts. Almonds are a staple in my household! When many people I know first start paleo they miss out on coconut. Unsweetened shredded coconut makes a great snack.

Lastly, don't restrict carb intake severly. If I remember correctly, marksdailyapple.com suggested 100-150gm/day.
