Are any of you employed independently as cleaning ladies? I am wondering when you charge an hourly rate, when you determine to raise your hourly rate, what that decision is based upon. Thanks in advance!

I am not a cleaning lady, but I have one. Every other week, she cleans our main floor (kitchen, office, family room....all hard wood flooring and the 1/2 bath) and we pay her $30.

On the opposite weeks, she cleans the whole house (2100 sq ft) and we pay her $60. We have a 4 bedroom house and when she started 3 years ago, she cleaned 3 of the 4 bedrooms. Due to more work on my end for the pre-clean, I just have her clean the maaster bedrooms and she vaccums the others IF there are not toys on the floor.

I think I could pay her less both weeks, but she is sooooo dependable and does a good job and I come home to a clean house once a week, so I am HAPPY. I do provide all my own cleaning supplies by choice and she uses our vaccum by my choice as well.

I am not - but I can tell you that we used a cleaning lady last year who charged by the hour and I gave her a list of what to do and then paid for however long it took her to get it done.

I have a cleaning lady. I pay her $25 an hour. She has worked for me off and on for a long time. Started out at $15 an hour but gradually worked its way up lol. We actually clean my house together. That way although I pay $100 bucks it is the whole house that is done. usually takes us between 3 and 4 hours of us both working together.

I have my own business, and I charge $20.00/hr. I use all my own products (except broom, mop etc). If a customer were to provide cleaning products I would charge $18.00/hr.
