well I am 22 years old, pretty healthy and my husband and I have a 2 year old. We have been having unprotected intercourse for a couple of months now, knowing the possibility of pregnancy I of course want to get pregnant so bad and my husband is prepared also. But every month I get my period.I'm never late and if so mayb e by a day or 2 and then it comes right in the morning. I am one week and one day late this month. I hope I am pregnant but unsure. I have had slight cramps or discomfort more so in my lower abdomen I've felt warmer then usual, craving more junk and more tired out, and have had a few short nausea spells and threw up the other nite and one or two dizzy spells. I took a pregnancy test the other day and it was negative but the one I took wasn't a good brand like i usually buy so I don't know if it was even reliable. I have taken more pregancy tests through out the week and still negative!!!! but I also have some acne which normally happens right before my period, but that went away. I also don't really have any discharge or anything so I need help actually I need a postive test. help!!!!!!!!! I'm going to my doctor tomorrow for a blood test so we'll see.......

What can I do next?

A doctor can help with this. Even letting him know you are trying to get pregnant. I would get help from him or her.

I had four false negatives for a pregnancy once. Brand usually does not matter, as much as people think. I would take a couple more tests, and see if you just got a dud(happens with even the top brands). If they still come up negative, I would go to the doctor to ask for a serum(blood) pregnancy test. In the time until then, act as if you are pregnant. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Most women experience some sort of irregularity in menstruation at some point in their life. I wouldn't be too concerned about this being a problem, until you have a chance to have a doctor check into it more. I had HIGHLY irregular cycles for years, when I was around your age. Almost immediately after getting them regulated again, I got pregnant for my son.

Hi S. - I have heard of many couples, who concieved easily the first time, have an incredibly hard time concieving the second time. My husband and I were completely opposite. It took us 2 years and nine months to get pregnant for my daughter (we had lots of tests done and they could never find anything wrong), but then 2 1/2 years later I was on the patch and I became pregnant with my son...we weren't even trying! My mom was the same way. It took seven years of trying for her to have me, seven years for her to have my sister Sarah and then three months after Sarah was born she became pregnant with my sister Rebecca. My mid-wife says it has something to do with your hormones changing. When I thought I might be pregnant I would make myself wait 2 - 4 weeks before I took a test. Once I took a test though that was an off brand and when the results were fuzzy I went out a bought another one and the result came back positive (this was for my son). I would try another test and talk to your mid-wife or doctor, if you haven't already. Other than that just hang in their! I totally believe that babies come in their timing, not ours...LOL.

Honestly, quit trying. The stress your putting your mind and body through isn't helping. I tried to get pregnant with my second child for a year and did not suceed until I gave up and started training for a triatholon. 3 months into training I found out I had been pregnant the entire time. Just remember stress plays a major part too...

Hi!!
I'm not sure about the prego tests...I always use the cheapest and they have never been wrong for me.
But trying to get pregnant, with my first, Kiefer, we had tried for over a year before it happened. The second time we didn't want to wait to try for another baby and not have it happen for a long time, so we decided not to use any protection and 11 months later we had a baby girl. We weren't expecting it to happen so fast, it was quite a surprise!!
And with Solomon(I had him June 13!)I was thinking that we would get pregnant fast, like with McKayla, but it took over 9 months of trying before it happened.
Just relax and have fun trying!!! I don't think you have anything to worry about. My babies came when I least expected it-especially my daughter!! And my sons-I had just about given up and thought maybe I couldn't get pregnant when it happened.
I wish you all the best, good luck!!!

I had similar results when I tried getting pregnant after being on the pill. My first was my oops but the other 2 were planned and they both took 4 months to conceive. I was also in my early twenties. I know it does take time for the meds. to clear out of your body. All those signs you are looking for could be more stressful on yourself. Just relax and it will happen when your body is ready. You also are under stress with a 2 yr. old, job, and school. I hope this helps a little.

You can always get a false negative, never a false positive with preg. tests. Just be patient (it's hard I know!), but I knew the second I was pregnant with my 2nd child...eventhough for 2 weeks the pregnancy tests kept telling me I wasn't! (and they were the "good" ones too!) You know your own body, if you feel these symptoms (breast tenderness was a key symptom for me!) chance you are right! Good luck and God bless!

The other women here pretty much say it all.

Just wanted to add my 2 cents, as we went through this same thing about, oh 9 months ago? Last January, (I was also 22) we got off the pill and started trying, my son was born the previous May, so he was less than a year, and it took us 2 year not trying, but not preventing to get pregnant with him. Like the women on here were saying, we didnt 'try', although we wanted one, we didnt want to add stress to it.

Anyways, I kept getting my pds and was a little disappointed, but no big deal, there was always next month. Well that April, my pd never came, I tested, with an 2 EPTs, both neg, every week I tested, neg. I used name brand, and generic, hoping for something besides a negative. Early May came and went, still negatives. We went back home not thinkign about it, to visit our family 600 miles away for a week and a half, came back, very next day took a test and it was positive!

Went to my OB/GYN two days later, and they tests my levels, and I was pregnant the WHOLE time, I was almost 2 months at that point. Why they kept coming out negative I have no idea. But apparently its possible, and I'm do literally any day now. I thought it was strange all the negs, cause with my son, I was barely 3 weeks pregnant and got a strong POS the first try!

Good luck ttc, hope it happens soon!

If I can give you one small piece of advise is this, the more you stress about getting pregnant the longer it will take. Alot of times when you want to get pregnant so bad you actually trick yourself into thinking you are. I went through this when we were trimg to have our son, we tried everything I took tests and cried every time they were negative. After a while it will make you crazy and stressed and that alone will make your periods late. Relax, don't try just take a couple weeks of being normal play with your 2 year old and enjoy this time and when you least expect it it will happen. With my last daughter I was on birth control one day of no-patch and we had her so you never know I have 3 girls and a boy 12, 7, 4, and 19 months and we are done I had my tubes tied. But I remember how heartbreaking it was to see that negative result and how stressed we both were. So my advise is dont think about wether you are or arent wait a week take another test if it is meant to be it will be lol. If not the fun is in the trying take a night out with the hubby get a hotel room and relax and enjoy each other.

It was 45 days before my test came back + with my son. Even than it was so light you could hardly see it. Come to find out I was not very far along when we got the + result. Just wait a few more days.

I would go have a blood test. Sometimes you can have cramping when the baby is moving down. It'll happen with time! I got preg really easy the first two times our thrid child it was a lot harder I mean instead of one month it took six. Make sure you go to the doc if you are still having symptoms with no period sometimes thoughs tests can be wrong no matter what brand. Good Luck! M.

I don't know about the symptoms you are having but as far as the type of tests i bought one for 1.00 from our dollar store and it worked. i of course still went to have the test just to make sure which you have to do anyway but your best bet is go to a free pregnancy clinic if you have one and if not go to your doctor for the blood work then you'll know for sure.

I would call your doctor, tell then what is going on, and see what they say. Or call and tell them you want to have a blood Preganacy test done. I also say quit trying and worring. Stress will not help things. I wish you the best of luck.

On average it take 3-6 mos to get preganant. I would not worry about conception problems yet. If you think you might be pregnant or that there is some other problem, go see you Dr. and ask for a quantatative pregnancy test. You could be Preg and not have eough hormome for the OTC test to be positive. You could also just be late. The blood test will confirm that for you.

I'd go get another HP test. It couldn't hurt. As for conceiving, if you are just coming off the pill or similar form of birthcontrol, it can take longer. It needs time to leave your system, and for your body to adjust. This sounds normal.

Secondary infertility is not an uncommon thing, even for younger women but it may just take a few more months depending on when you ovulate. If you are concerned, contact your GYN Dr. and set up an appointment to talk and they can probably run some bloodwork to check your progesterene levels if nothing else and see if you are actually pregnant or just running into snags.
I have 6 years of infertility experience so just email me privately if you ever want to talk.
