I did the Arbonne colon cleanse, and was pleased with the results. It did a serious job of cleansing -- don't plan any trips while you are in the process. I'll send more information if you'd like. e-mail me at ____@____.com

I'd seriously question that much weight loss over a colon cleanse -- or was it over a period of months, that doesn't sound healthy if it was too quick---

I have done a cleanse before - not for weight loss though. I can tell you that the effects of the cleanse for me were good. I felt better physically.

Oh YES!! And it would be a good thing for anyone to do on occasion. If you want to tread lightly and go easy, go for The Garden of Life, Perfect cleanse. You just alter your diet slightly for 10 days while you only take pills and a powder in the evening. If you really want to go hard core try Dr. Schultz' bowel cleanse following it up by a kidney and liver detox or just do the 30 day detox. You can Google both of these. Overdoing anything is not advisable whether that be cleansing or eating the SAD diet too long as well as being exposed daily to toxins and chemicals that eventually could rob us of our health. You can also add a colonic or two during the middle stages for an extra benefit. I am currently on a candida cleanse which was desperately needed and feeling so much better. Best of luck and if you need further help, just ask. You may want to work with a D.O. or a natural minded Dr. to get the best advise for your specific goal, but try to stay away from fad programs and diets.

I have to completely disagree with Shari! (sorry!) Traditional MD's are taught close to zero about natural health options in conventional medical school. It's sad, but the truth. The colon is basically your bodies sewage system. If it gets backed up, you can accumulate pounds of mucous and fecal matter that starts to poison the rest of your body and cause a host of physical symptoms. I wouldn't have belived it if I hadn't tried it myself. My husband and I do a cleanse once a year, and guess what? We NEVER get sick. I mean, never! People at work are dropping like flies with colds, flu, etc. But not us.
Your GI tract houses most of your immune system, so clean it out and expect to stay healthy after that!
We use Colonix at www.drnatura.com
If you get brave enough, look at the testimonial photos. No, they are not photo shopped, I promise. You can also find similar cleases at Whole Foods, Sprouts or Vitamin Shoppe. You won't believe the postive imapct it will make! Good luck!

Colon clensing, IONclensing, and all the other "cleansing" products are nothing more that expensive psychosomatic cures. Sure you might lose a few pounds that is all water but it will soon come back.

Save your money.

If excess weight is because of the inability to detox and your body is holding on to toxins in your fat cells, then a colon cleanse can be beneficial for slight weight loss. However, 30 pounds is not usually the case and most people are overweight for other reasons. Healthy colon cleanses are a great way to reset the flora and permeability in the intestines. Dr. Natura's Colonix and Toxinout are great ones to try! We do muscle testing at our clinic to find the right cleanse for you. Feel free to call to ask the doctor! www.whchiropractic.com

I see that you got another response from another K. B. I am 41 yrs old and I can tell you that I do a total body cleanse at least 3 times per year. Every year !! For all of the folks stating that there is no benefit from doing a cleanse.....I totally disagree. Just like your car needs certain things done to keep it running properly, so does the body. We put toxins into our systems everyday with the foods we eat the air we breath and just living. Our bodies need to be CLEANSED of these toxins to correctly function.

There is a difference in doing a CLEANSE and simply doing an enema. Cleansing removes toxins from the body while an enema (to prepare for a colonoscopy, etc..)just clears out whats in the colon. Think of your colon as the pipes in your sink....over time all of the stuff you pour down the sink creates a build up and the opening for stuff to pass through eventually becomes smaller and smaller. Thus, at some point you need to clean the drain of all of the build up to allow the water, etc... to full through at a faster rate. Same thing applies to the colon....over time, toxins and waste build up on the walls of the colon and create a difficulty within your system to function properly. Doing a cleanse actually will release all of this from the walls of the colon therefore allowing the body to function correctly. Benefits include (but are not limited to) increased absorption of the vitamins and minerals etc from the food you eat and the elimination of all of the actual build up on the walls of the colon results in weight loss.

I read in some of the responses you have gotten that many people stopped because they started feeling badly....PLEASE DO NOT STOP ONCE YOU HAVE STARTED A CLEANSE. The flu like symptoms that you will undoubtly experience is a sign that the cleanse is working....all of the toxins being released into the body so that they can be eliminated is the reason for the ill feeling. Once they are eliminated you will be surprised and amazed at how well you will feel. The more times per year that you do a cleanse - the less flu like symptoms you will have to go through because you are regularly cleaning out the body.

The total body cleanse I use I get from Wal Mart for $20. There are several that you can choose from. Go to the local health food store and they can assist you to choose one that is best to meet your personal needs and desires.

Good luck with your endeavor and I hope that you will consider doing a cleanse so that you will see just how good you will feel.

One of the best cleansers I know of is Garlic. Eat a clove of garlic daily. You will go regularly. It tastes good and its all natural. If you don't like the taste, use the capsules. It also cleanses the blood and helps regulate the heart.

I have not done one of these products, but really do not understand how this would help you lose weight long term. I think it is another "quick fix" to take our money. I am over 50 and had to go for my first colonoscopy a month ago. You have to take several laxatives and drink this stuff and not eat anything for 24 hours to clean out your colon so they can look for polyps or cancer. It was no fun! I did lose a couple of pounds, but they came right back as soon as I ate again. I know my colon was "cleansed" because I saw the pictures - clean as a whistle. I did not feel any long term benefit from this process. If there is some kind of fatty build up in the colon as the products say, then it would have been obvious during a colonoscopy or only took one day to clean it out. If you took a product that caused diarrhea for several weeks, yes, you would lose some weight, as anyone can tell you that has had a stomach virus. They also call this "eating" disorder a form of bulimia - overeating then purging to rid yourself of excess weight. It is very dangerous.

All I have to say is...ouch...be near a toilet....at all times. I tried a colon cleanse from wild oats a few years ago to help my health (not to lose weight) and I quit after a few days. If you have a life (like a job or kids or anything) it is very difficult to go on w/it when your stomach is emptying its contents all day long. My husband thought that maybe I just had a weak stomach...he decided to give this highly recommended cleanse a shot...he was sick for weeks longer than I was.

Ugh, don't do it. You won't be able to really leave the house! Besides your colon cleanses itself naturally, just up your fiber intake with fruits and veggies etc. If you feel you need to "detox" try something like the South Beach Diet's first two weeks.

If you would like medical opinion/support, try Dr. Gonino, D.O. in Heath. In addition to detoxing and cleansing the GI tract, he can also help cleanse and detox your blood through IV treatments. He has patients from all over TX and the rest of the US, because of his alternative medical approach. The IVs and other treatments are even covered by most major medical insurance!

Yes, it is good to "cleanse" but I would not suggest it as a weight loss program. I am into natural solutions for cleansing and weight loss, but you have to be a little careful with the cleansing. It can be hard on you and you should proceed slowly. Contact me if you'd like a good weight loss program that is healthy!

Please, please, please read the book by Jordan S. Rubin called The Maker's Diet. It opens your eyes to what we're putting into our bodies. He recommends cleansing with all sorts of methods. He even suggests drinking a cleansing drink in the mornings. The first thing I did was replace all vegetables and fruits with organic and all meats with free-range or grass-fed. It's a little more expensive, but come on! Take care of your "gut" now and you will reep the benefits in your later years. I started with Phase One, skipped Phase Two and found that Phase Three broadened my eating options. The first week was the hardest, of course, but I dropped inches in the first month. I hope you'll give it a try.

I was thinking of doing it too. Not only for weight loss but to detox (for healthy skin and hair). I have looked at a couple of things but have not tried anything yet. Can you tell me what your friend's cousin used? Was it dual-action cleanse?

Thank you for posting this question! My five year old is in dire need of a candida cleanse. I ordered a kid cleansing kit from Dr. Natura's website. It should arrive any day. Can't wait. I bought a candida cleanse for myself from Central Market called CandiGone. Haven't started it yet. Good luck!

I have not tried one but have heard some cautionary tales. Be sure you consult with a nutritionist for advice on what products to use and how to use them before doing this on your own.

BTW, eating plenty of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables daily will cleanse your colon naturally. Fiber is the key!
