Anyone Gotten Pregnant from Frozen Embryo Transfer?

I am going through the process of prepping my body for a frozen embryo transfer. We already tried once and had no luck. Just wondering if anyone has anything positive to say about their experience. I am worried that the odds are so low to get pregnant this way. I need some positive input.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hi everyone.
I just wanted to say thank you so very much for all the responses so far. I truly feel that I have a better chance now because I am in a better mental place. All the supportive feedback was/is so helpful. Hearing all the stories makes me feel less alone and way more positive.
I will find out later this week when my transfer is scheduled and I will keep you all up to date as to how things go. You are all so great for taking the time to help me. Thank you so much!
~K.

I have a friend that has 3 kids and she never cared them she had her sister carry the first twins and they were frozen and five years later she had the last of her 3 eggs implanted into someone else a son out of that one. She also had a sister that had the same thing and got twins out of it.
Good luck sorry I was not more helpful but at least you know its possible even five years later.

I have had a couple of friends get pregnant and successfully had a child with frozen embryos. Just stay positive, and try not to worry. If it's meant to be, it will happen. Good luck!

I am currently 19 weeks pregnant with a baby from a frozen cycle. It was a long shot as we only had 1 frozen embryo. My now 2 year old daughter was the only 'survivor' of the 2 embryos transferred during the 'fresh' cycle. Based on the 50/50 odds after the 'fresh' transfer, our hopes were not very high for this single frozen embryo. It had been frozen for 2.5 years. I realize that we may have been very lucky but you should try to keep a positive attitude about the process. My IVF clinic believes it's as much of a mental issue as it is a physical one! Relax and Good luck!

I am currently looking at my 3 month old twin boys concieved using frozen embryos. I had no luck with the the fresh cycle and first frozen cycle from this batch. It was the last frozen transfer from the same batch that produced these boys.

Dear K. G--I can give you some positive input- My friend and neighbor got pregnant three years ago from her frozen embryo transfer- It took three trys and her odds were not good- but on the third try she became pregnant and carried TWINS almost to term.
Another friend of mine also became pregnant by the same method almost two years ago (at 41) and has an absolute angel beauty little girl- The gift of life- so amazing- If it is meant to be and you are determined and have the resources- keep on trying- My friends did and they hardly remember the trouble it was- because now they have the beautiful little troubles that ARE.
I am a 45 year old mom of a beautiful Down Syndrome girl named Ruby who is now 14 years old---- Special needs do require some strengths on our part - But she too is an angel and I wouldn't trade her for the world.--Some of my friends feel you shouldn't mess with mother nature- but I do not think that is what this is- I think if the technology can help us -we should use it- and I think if I had known I was carrying a down syndrome girl I would have thought it was the worst thing in the world- but it isn't- and her little spirit has given so many people joy and taught so many of us so much- so- It is possible- anything is possible- If there is a little spirit looking for you- then your efforts will connect with it and it could happen. Good Luck- J.

My beautiful 17-month-old daughter spent the first months of her life in a freezer. Just try to relax and stay positive. The odds really aren't significantly different to fresh!

Best of luck!

Dear K.,

Have you been using acupuncture (and appropriate herbs) while you are going through IVF? Plenty of studies have shown that acupuncture by someone trained in infertility and women's health issues yields a higher rate of pregnancy. That's because the goal in Chinese medicine is not just to achieve pregnancy, but to optimize the reproductive environment and the improve a woman's whole health to sustain the pregnancy.

There are numerous acupuncturists trained in women's reproductive health, and I am networked with many around the U.S. Let me know where you are located, and I will find someone for you.

With best wishes,

Yes we did. And we did it without medecin. So we just went to do the FET 3 days after my O and it worked. Better then with all the meds when it didn't work as fresh.

Hi K.,
Yes, My sister in law was the first person in Canada to get pregnant with this technique!!
It was well worth the wait. They now have a two year old daughter named Julia.
Go for it..and know that it does work! It was the very last egg that did the trick.

YES!!! Our beautiful daughter, who turned four at the end of Nov. '07, was born from a frozen embryo. When we first tried IVF with a fresh cycle and two transfered embryos I didn't get pregnant. So we tried again three or four months later with our remaining four frozen embryos. One didn't survive the freezing (or de-freezing) process, three were transfered and one of those was our daughter who made it!!

Now, over four years later I am pregnant again from a fresh cycle where three embryos survived and we transfered all three since (1) I am 39 and (2) We would have been fine with triplets. As an aside, I also had an acupuncture treatment done just before (in the transfer room) my recent transfer. Although I was found to be carrying twins early on, one baby did not continue to grow (vanishing twin syndrome) and I am now three months away from my due date with one baby who is looking good. So yes I have something positive to share. Fresh and frozen cycles can both work!!

I'm sure I'm not sharing anything new when I say IVF can be a wild ride for the body as well as the emotions. I often thought along the way that without having trust in G-d it would have been so much harder. I also was keenly aware that nothing (no child) had been promised to me, I had not become pregnant during my first 13 years of marriage without IVF and here we had an opportunity very few (relatively speaking) couples have ever had. Our daughter is truly a miracle to us and we never forget that she got the "golden ticket"!

Be well K. and know we will be thinking of you and wishing you all the best!!!

K.,

I would check out www.fertilethoughts.com. They have a FET board that has all kinds of results. I unfortunately have not had luck on my 3 FETs, but from the ladies that I have cycled with, usually about 40-50% get pregnant. I am just always not one of them. Best of luck on your transfer...we will be doing a fresh cycle as soon as AF shows up...

Dear K.,

You have every reason to think you will be successful this time as long as your embryos are good quality. I know how it feels when you already failed and then trying the same thing again. But it could work this time. When anxiety comes get information. What does your doctor say are the odds? Is there anything different about this FET vs last one? I'm assuming your embryos are 5 day blasts? If so they are stronger than fresh 3 day embryos. Remember doctor's wouldn't do FET's if they didn't have a high enough success rates. I don't know if this is comforting or not. I hope so. Just breathe. Love, Alex

Yes! My 4.5 yo is from a FET. We adopted 11 embryos that had been frozen for 5-6yrs. 3 survived the thaw and our son is the result of those 3. Our embryos were considered very poor quality embryos and I still got pregnant . . .there were even twins for a very short time. Our drs were very skeptical about me getting pregnant . . .good thing God had the ultimate control, not the drs!

YES!!!!! The first time with one child, and the second time(same batch) with twins, all healthy. It is possible, keep positive! I know how rough it is to cycle, but looking back I'd do it a hundered times for each of them. Best Wishes.

I have something very positive to say about frozen embryo transfer...my 28 month old beautiful daughter. I tried for over 4 years to get pregnant (with the help of a so-called fertility expert) and when I switched providers (Dr. Lane Wong) I finally got pregnant. I had an initial egg harvest of 18 useable eggs and 16 fertilized. My first cycle was a "fresh" cycle and I didn't conceive. My second go 'round was with 6 of my remaining frozen embryos and I conceived my daughter. So, you see the positive is...NOTHING worked for me EXCEPT a frozen embryo transfer. Keep your chin (and your faith) up. Positive thinking is a major factor in this process. Good Luck.
