I do not personally have a child who has had a frenulumectomy, but I have worked with multitudes of children who have. (I am an orofacial myologist/oral myofunctional therapist in the area and dentists and physicians refer children to me to work with re: this issue). There is an excellent resource on the web that many parents are not aware of. Not only are there extensive narratives on this topic but videos. Some are quite graphic, but are certainly very informative! Dr. Brian Palmer, a dentist who is highly educated and knowledgeable in this area, is considered one of the leading researchers in the country on frenulum attachments and their possible complications related to breastfeeding, tongue thrust (orofacial myofunctional issues), and palatal development. In fact, I just came back from the Orofacial Myology convention and he spoke for several hours on this topic and received a standing ovation. His website is:
Good luck to all.
