I'm 35, in pretty good health, and will soon be taking Clomid after consulting with our fertility specialist.

Did you experience any side-effects?

Were you able to get pregnant and how long did it take?

I'd also like to know if you had a multiple birth taking this drug. I've heard that the chance of a multiple birth increases.

Thanks!

What can I do next?

I took 1 cycle and got pregnant. I had no side affects, but everyone is different. I did hear some women get mood swings very bad.

Good luck to you!

I got pregnant with a single baby on the second month of Clomid, 50mg. I felt a little mood-swingy and tired, but nothing compared to how outrageous I felt during weeks 4-8 of my pregnancy!

I was told there is a 10% chance of conceiving twins on Clomid. I go to a regular OB (not an RE), so I did not have monitored cycles. I did my own charting and faxed them in for review at the end of each cycle.

Good luck!

I took 50mg of clomid to get pregnant with my second son. It worked on the 4th cycle. When I tried to get pregnant with my third son, I took one cycle of 50mg, and we were unsuccessful, so I moved up to 100mg the 2nd cycle, and got pregnant.
My only side effect was hot flashes and mood swings. I always said I felt bad for my hubby because he had to deal with me on clomid, then again while pregnant. lol
The risk of muliples is very low on clomid. Good Luck!

I was on clomid twice. The first time was at 34, and we did an Interuterine insemination along with the clomid, and I got pregnant on the the first try.

I took clomid again at 38 ( no IUI this time), and I was again pregnant right away. This time I had twins.

I had no side effects, as I was not on the clomid that long.

I did 3 rounds of Clomid. Starting at 50mg, then 100mg, and then finally 150mg. None of them worked. My doctor did tell me that there is an increased chance of multiples so you should be prepared for that if it works for you. I had no side-effects and felt completely fine while taking the drug. We were able to get pregnant on our own (and by the grace of God) 3 years later. Good luck!

I took clomid and it worked the 2nd month, I got pregnent with my now beautiful 4 1/2 year old twin girls. With clomid you only a 4-5% chance of having a multiple pregnancy. Fraternal twins run in my family so my doctor said that is what caused me to have twins, not the clomid. No, I did not have any side effects while using clomid.

Good luck to you

I wanted to address a previous comment made. Your risk of multiples does increase during the use of Clomid. Clomid is a drug that can stimulate the development of more than one egg per cycle.

An ethical Reproductive Endocrinologist (RE) will be drawing blood multiple times during your cycle (to check your hormone levels). Your hormone levels should fall into a certain range and that should dictate how much Clomid the RE gives you. In addition, your RE will give you multiple internal ultrasounds during your use of Clomid in order to see how many "follicles" have developed. Usually, one follicle develops a month (just one egg!) Clomid allows your body to produce more than one during your cycle. (Hence, the potential for multiples.)

Unethical REs pump women up with maximum amounts of Chlomid and stimulate many, many follicles. (This is so they can advertise high success rates.) My RE was upfront with me and told me that if too many follicles were stimulated, he would refuse the IUI procedure. You should talk to him/her about this. Be open about your concerns and see what s/he says.

I did not experience any side effects from Clomid and I had a single birth. No mood swings, no nothing. But I was on the minimal amount of Clomid for each of the three times I used it (and got pregn. on the third try!)

Please feel free to contact me if you have other questions!

I had to use Clomid all 3 times I got pregnant. They started me at 50 and increased it by 50 every time I didn't get pregnant. All 3 times I was on 100 mg. I only had single births. I experienced no side effects at all. The chances of that are very low with this drug. Good luck!
