I have been diagnosed with PCOS for two years now, which answers my lifelong issues with bad skin (acne) and hirsutism (excessive hair growth) has anyone treated their acne with B5? I found a recent study online and was curious if anyone else had tried it? As for hair removal, well I am currently trying laser...but it is not so successful. This is a very frustrating issue to deal with.

What can I do next?

Sorry I am just seeing your post months late. It caught my eye when I was looking for some other information.

Just to tell you my story and another route to consider... I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 25. I had been on and off many birth control pills since I was 18 and over the years had some bad reactions to some. I didn't have a problem with acne or hirsutism so this doesn't exactly respond to your question but the underlying problem of PCOS it does.

I was always told that I would have trouble getting pregnant because of my hormones. Years later I met and married a wonderful man who introduced me to a nutritionist in NYC. I was treated for some time by this nutritionist - he is almost like a holistic doctor focusing on supplements and diet. This was the first time I really learned about natural health remedies. It changed my life forever. I know many people are not open to this but I have to say that years later no Gynecologist - and I have been to multiple - has been able to see any trace of PCOS and it took me no time to get pregnant. I truly believe that if you can get to the root of PCOS which is an overgrowth of yeast in your body (by the way no Dr. will tell you this) that your acne and hirsutism may dissipate. I know how frustrating this issue can be on other levels and getting to the root is the only way to ever feel really really good. I hope I can help in some way!

Hi ... I have never had PCOS myself, but am part of a social network (The Women's Mosaic in NYC) with a woman who did (does?). She essentially cured herself and has become a holistic health practitioner to help other women "right" their hormones. Here's her website: http://www.laughingsagewellness.com/events_speaker.shtml.

Despite not having PCOS, I do enjoy reading her monthly newsletter (signup here: http://www.laughingsagewellness.com/), and I believe she periodically puts on free teleconferences for women to hear about her experience and get tips for themselves.

Good luck!

Let me see if I can remember how I weaned my kids...(I have 4 kids) I think I introduced sippy cup and started to push the baby to drink from the cup. I started to space nursing time. You may have to struggle with your baby a little but that's part of the deal.

I have PCOS, and had really bad skin. Proactiv really works for me, it's amazing how clear my skin is now. But everyone's different. I know Proactiv has a money back guarantee--it's a little expensive, but it's worth it for my self esteem, as I also have the other side effects of PCOS, such as excessive facial hair growth, and excess weight. At least I can do something about the acne!!! QVC.com seems to be the cheapest place to get the Proactiv. If you decide to try it, just remember to give it a few weeks--sometimes your skin will look worse at first as the product works to clear everything up. As far as the hirsutism, I just pluck a lot--everything else is too much hassle! Just a tip--if you're a plucker, like me, keep a set of tweezers in the car. For some reason, I can always see the hair when I'm in the car with the natural light, and so I do a much better job of plucking (of course I don't do it while driving! :) )

I hope you're seeing a good reproductive endocrinologist. Even if you're not trying to get pregnant, they understand PCOS the best. Mine had me on metformin up to 12 weeks pregnancy. I still have not gone back on because I am extended nursing. I struggle with when/if/how to wean and whether or not I want to go back on the metformin, or try a more natural approach.

I have PCOS too, though some doctors say I don't and others say it is mild. I have dealt with Acne since age 10. Hair growth has been ok, but I did have some problems conceiving. I'd recommend the website http://www.soulcysters.net/ I had luck with Metformin, though It had some nasty gastro side effects. Now I have been med free since my twins were born 2.5 years ago (actually when I was pregnant also), it seems that extended nursing reduced the symptoms a bit.

Hi A.,

I only know a bit about PCOS so I don't honestly know if this would work for you or not but have you thought about a hormone balancing cream? I know Arbonne's has helped women with other things such as PMS, trouble getting pregnant, etc. I wonder if you wouldn't see some improvement with your symptoms.

If you'd be interested in trying one of the products, please let me know. I'd love to help you. ____@____.com

I pray you find the answers you are looking for.

Hugs,
L.
