Are There Any "Gymboree Like" Parent/child Classes for Working Moms?

I would love to enroll myself and 4 month old daughter in a class like Gymboree so she can be exposed to other children her age, and we can learn new activities we can do at home. The closest Gymboree to my home is quite a distance. All of the other classes offered at gyms, music classes, etc, all have only weekday/daytime schedules. I have searched high and low for something on a weekend to no avail. Anyone have any info on this? Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thank you to all who replied. I looked at all of the Little Gym's in my area and none offer any evening or weekend classes for parents/infants. I emailed them to see if they would consider starting one and they replied that at this time their schedule does not allow that, but that when she turns 10 mos old there is an evening class offered for that age group. I guess I just have to wait! Thanks again.

Try the Little Gym. They have many locations in the northern virginia, maryland and DC area. They all offer evening classes for working people. My three kids have all attended classes there and we have been very happy. They have classes for kids form infants to about 8 or 9 years old. They also have summer camps for 3 years old and up. I hope that helps!

Check out Wolf Trap Artsplay in Vienna.

I also am fairly certain that Kindermusik offers classes in Reston on the weekends - they have severely limited their Ashburn sessions.

When she is older, Reston Conservatory has Baby Ballerinas weekend sessions.

Also look at Fair Oaks, Reston, and Loudoun Hospital. I took an infant massage class in Fair Oaks when my first daughter was smaller. At that age, it is a great way to build intimacy with your daughter. Ina few months she will enjoy the music/gym classes a lot more.

Congrats - I too have a four month old in Ashburn! Enjoy every minute. I think it is easy to miss out on some of this fun stuff when you work full time, so it is great you are trying to find something. I think you will have fun. Be persistent. (I worked full time eith my first child for the first year)

My husband really enjoys taking our eldest child to JW Tumbles.....they are very clean, new and wonderful! We've also done Gymboree and Little Gym, but we definitely prefer JW Tumbles. There are franchises all over. If you google it, you should have no problem finding a location that is convenient and has weekend hours.

We've been going to My Gym in Chantilly for almost 5 years (w/2 kids). Coach Joe and his team have been wonderful. They have a Saturday class for your daughter starting soon. Here is the schedule http://www.my-gym.com/schedule_fran.asp?schednum=2&gy... If that doesn't work, go to www.mygym.com and search from there. Hope you find something you both enjoy :)

Try The Little Gym. You can start your child as young as 4 months. My neighbor recommended them and I'm starting my 15 month old this weekend.

As you've found classes just aren't structured for four-month-olds; at that very young age they really don't need much exposure to other kids--all they really need is their adults being with them plenty! And classes might be just too much stimulation at an age when they're doing well to just focus on your face, hear new sounds, follow the shadows from the leaves....When your daughter is old enough (I believe 10 months or a year?) try Music Together. It's a fantastic music program for kids through preschool age and my daughter and I both loved it. There are lots of classes and many are on Saturdays. If you are a really participatory mom your daughter will get a lot out of it (if the class is full of parents who shove their kids at the teacher and who don't sing along, move along and fully participate alongside their kids, whether it's Music Together or any other class, consider finding a new class of more active and participatory parents). I don't know where you are located but there are Music Together classes all over the place -- Google them.Mine was in Vienna,Va., with Linda Criscitello teaching and she's just great. There will be plenty of movement as well as music so don't focus just on gym-type classes. Give it a try!
