If you need to replace a full income, you'll need a professional WAH position. Those types of positions will require childcare. It's really critical to take a realistic look at the realities of WAH because it's a common misconception that you can hold down a professional job at home and watch your children effectively at the same time. One or both will give, not to mention you'll be stressed out. I have worked from home as a freelancer for 10 years and love it. I work when our kids are in school in the mornings; when they were younger, I did when they were in daycare.

The easiest way to avoid being scammed is to become a consultant/freelancer in your field. What is your professional skill set, education and background? If you're marketable, this is the best route to take because you'll avoid the scams and make great money (if you're really good at what you do).

Not unless you have a talent AND a passion because working from home is harder because you have to commit yourself to work and not doing other things. I have been looking for years and I haven't found anything. I sell Avon but I haven't made any money even close to being enough to live on. So many people sell for these companies not many people can.

This is a dream for many women and it sounds so wonderful. The reality is is you are not an organized, self-motivated person, then you will not succeed. It is much easier to go into a work environment and do a job. At home, you will have many distractions, especially taking care of young children. You will have to have some type of childcare, unless your kids nap for five or more hours a day.

Please, Please, Please don't start selling something. Practically every SAHM I know is selling something. It has really put a strain on our friendships. I don't appreciate being constantly asked to go to parties and buy products that I don't need. Do you really want to try to make money off your friends? There are several of these women that I can no longer be around, they are so pushy. If I see them coming, I run the other way.

The best way to work at home, is to telecommute or freelance in a field in which you already have experience. I used to be a freelance artist, before my kids were born. I was not able to keep it up when my kids were little. Good luck and I hope you can find something that will work for you.

My friend is a Tupperware Lady and has been for years. They now have it set up so you can do parties online and never see the customers but you make the money. You can also set-up at flea markets etc and book parties. The only downside is you have to have enough storage space to keep the stuff.
Mary Kay is also ligit and again you can make money online. Avon is ligit but you need to work a lot harder at Mary Kay and Avon to make the same money as Tupperware.

Working at home is a JOB and hard work. It is not all it is cracked up to be... you must be well disciplined, have kiddos taken care of and be able to focus on the job at hand.

I am a stay at home mom with an almost 4 month old baby girl. I have my own business and I absolutely love what I do. I agree with the mom that said it takes passion and commitment, it does! I get a check each month and I was so excited when my first check was almost $400 for about 10-12 hours worth of work. Now, not everyone gets that the first month. It depends on how much you put into it and how hard you are willing to work. I don't have to stock inventory or make deliveries...all I do is talk, which is something I love to do anyways! I had tried TheMom Team and didn't have any success. I think work at home united "sells" the same things. Memberships to an expensive health and wellness company. NOT worth it. I would look for something that doesnt involve either one of these companies.

There are lots of direct sales business's out there that are legitimate. The key is to find the one that you are passionate about, deciding ahead of time how many hours per week you are willing and able to commit to the business and if you want one that requires you to do parties or not. It is a business and will not be successful just because you signed up. You will have to effort and energy into the business. Yes, you start out my approaching your warm market (Friends), but soon you will be moving on past this market unless of course they like doing business with you. I have been working from home for 4 years now and LOVE it. I have a wine business which has been awesome, but you do have to go out of the home and do wine tasting's which are typically held on the weekend. I also just signed up to be a Team Beachbody Coach. My love of wine and my age had added to my waistline so I did Insanity from Beachbody and got great results in only 60 days....13 lbs, 3 1/2"waist, 2 3/4" hips lost! There are MANY scams, hyped up things, large investments, party plans etc etc when looking online. You have to be prepared to put time and energy into doing something. A work at home job, requires that you dedicate a certain number of hours, a business is much more flexible, you choose when and how much you work, but you also control your income so much better. I have a work at home business that I have been doing for 7 years, it isn't a full time replacement income, but I only work part time, so I have a part time income. I could be making more if I dedicated myself more to it, I am happy that my check every month is a few hundred dollars and definitely is allowing us to pay off debt. With as many professionals that work at home I am surprised that nobody mentioned Virtual Assistant. Depending on your skills, you can make $20 - $65 per hour. You can also continue to expand skills and services by online classes in Wordpress, etc. There are national organizations or local ones. I believe www.VAnetworking.com is local. In working with VAs for my business, I look for the skills to match the work needed. For retainer contract I make certain that resources are available if my primary VA is not available. I have one that accomplishes that thru networking with other VAs for backup.

You have received a lot of advice. Everyone will speak from experience. I agree, if you are organized, disciplined and motivated, you will do great in a home business. I would highly recommend a business that offers consumable products, there is a demand in the market, timing is right in the market and one that you can leverage your time.
