The stage 2s are the same consistency as the stage 1, just more of it and more combinations. Stay away from the more allergy prone foods - strawberries, etc, but if your baby needs more food, the stage 2s are more economical. My daughter eats like a horse, so as soon as we got her acclimated to the different foods, she was eating 6-8 stage 2s a day - go with your child's appetite.

Whenever they seem like they handle stage 1 well.

You can start stage 2 from 6 mos. on. (it usually says it on the jars).

Yes, my daughter was on stage 2 foods by 6-7 months as well, but like previous poster said, we avoided strawberries and raspberries until about 10 months.

It depends on your child. When you feel he/she can handle thicker foods... go for it.

My son will be 6 months on Monday and eats Stage 2 food at every meal. I had him on the standard fruits and veggies first, but he has now tried a few of the combo foods. I think you want to avoid anything with strawberries until 9 months or a year.

Hi S.,

Our ped. had us start our daughter on cereal at 4.5 months. We gradually worked our way to stage 2. She's now 7 months and I think we started her on stage 2 at 6 months. We are now using the last of stage 2 and starting stage 3. I've found the stages thicken just a little. I also starting giving her biter biscuits (messy) this week. Once your baby gets used to it, try the Gerber Graduates Puffs. They look like little flowers and I crack off two (petals) and give my daughter the rest. They melt in her mouth. I started today giving teeny tiny pasta stars.

You probably already know, but breastmilk/formula is still the main source of food & nutrients.

Like the others, every baby is different and you can tell when your baby is ready to explore. It's funny to watch their faces when giving the different textures. Get your camera ready.
