My son is 9 months old. His bottom teeth came in just right but his top teeth are coming in about an inch apart. It appears his front teeth are coming in where his k-9's should be. Anyone ever heard of that!?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

YEA! we have another tooth. It is trying to come in between the vampire teeth so it seems you were all right. Thanks for calming my fears!

Are you sure it's not his canines or the lateral incisors coming in instead of the middle teeth? Not all children have the bottom teeth come in and then the top 2 afterward. Our daughter had the bottom middle 2, then the top 2 laterals, then the upper middle, then the lower laterals and now she's getting all of her pre-molars before the canines. Have your pediatrician check them the next time you are in but it sounds like they are just coming in out of order.

I wouldn’t really worry about it right now. He is only 9 months old and they loose all of their baby teeth anyway. You will have to wait until their permanent teeth come in to determine if he is going to have any problems. Another thing to keep in mind is his wisdom teeth. I have 3 kids and 2 of them had to have their wisdom teeth pulled. They don’t come in until much later in life though (about 15 and up) and can push the other teeth closer together. When my daughter was about 13 the dentist said she would need braces. Her bottom teeth were fine but the top had a gap of about 1/4". I decided to wait until her wisdom teeth came in and sure enough the top teeth push together perfectly. The bottom teeth were a different story. They also pushed together and are now misaligned. Bottom line, he is too small to make any kind of determination. Wait until his permanent teeth come in to worry.

My son had "vampire" teeth, too! I agree with the other responses, just wait and see how they all come in.

My son got his lateral incisors before he got the middle two on the top....so it looked like that....we called him our little vampire. He did get the middle two soon after though.

I would not worry. They are probably not his front teeth. My daughters teeth came in crazy like that, not the order teeth usually come in. I would just wait and see what happens. I am a dentist, and we wouldnt even do anything yet if there was a problem. Wait until several more teeth come in and then take him in for a little "happy visit" to let a dentist look and evaluate. I would suggest doing this around 18mos.- 2yrs at the earliest.
