Bachelorette Pary Ideas for Sandra Dee ;)

My sister is getting married next week. As the man of honor, my younger brother feels it is his duty to plan a bachelorette party. He wants my help. She wants to hit the midnight showing of Harry Potter that night, it's a tradition she refuses to give up, so our time is limited. Think Sandra Dee with a great since of humor and you have my sister. :) She works for a church, lives on the church grounds, she doesn't drink and I don't think she has ever been to a nightclub. So the "traditional" stuff is definitely out. She also isn't into the hair and makeup stuff, so a spa day would be out. The only thing I have been able to come up with is making some sort of slide show and doing a "this is your life" kind of thing. Then play board games....this girl can't get enough of the games, until it's time for HP. We want something fun for her, that still keeps her values in mind. Anyone have any great ideas???? TIA!

Thanks ladies! I am loving the suggestions. Keep 'em coming. I should have mentioned that she lives in Brevard, N.C. The family will all be there Thursday morning (Bachelorette party day), Friday is the rehearsal dinner and Sat she gets married at 11. She requested that nothing besides the rehearsal dinner be planned for Fri. So that's why it HAS to be that Thursday and no other night. And Brevard it a small town, so that limits us a little too.

What can I do next?

You could have a Harry Potter themed bachelorette party- leading up to the movie. You could watch a Harry Potter movie, play board games, decorate like the Griffindor's main room (red and gold all over and maybe you could find some decorations at a party store). You could server Harry Potter themed food (there's a Harry Potter cookbook http://www.amazon.com/Unofficial-Harry-Potter-Cookbook-Kn... ) and serve drinks from a plastic cauldron (there's a recipe for butterbeer in the book- the hot version sounds pretty yummy and no alcohol), you could play Harry Potter trivia games, things like that. Then you could get tickets to go with her to see the movie, if you wanted.
Good luck!

Go somewhere fun like bowling, an indoor trampoline place, indoor kart racing. The slide show is a great idea too, you could probablyt even play it at one of these places and rent the party room.

I LOVE Amber C's idea of getting a limo and going to the HP movie like that. Definately get all the tickets needed bought/reserved, whatever needs to be done. How about doing it up red carpet style, OR all of you guys dressing up like different characters and riding in the limo to hit the show? We did that millions of years ago for Interview With The Vampire and still remember it fondly. Make it all about her and that's what's going to be special and make it "her" party. I hate the "normal" stuff, how people act up and go raunchy, with the excuse that it's their last night to be "single". I disagree!!! They're not single! They're a couple now, in a commited monogamous relationship by the time they get to that night, so the strippers and partying like that should be out of their system before the night before the wedding! HOWEVER, it could be her last chance for the party to be all about her. Once married, it's "them" not her, and we all know once you have children, well that "all me" mentality / ability is gonna all go out the window for a few years, right? So that's how I'd go with it. Sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Don't know where she's watching it at......if at Grapevine, if you don't do the limo, red carpet theme, or character theme, you could do Tinsletown and walk over from Main Event (bowling, laser tag, arcades, food/drinks, etc). Or if at Harkins you could have a nice dinner somewhere in the square (Copelands? Cheesecake Factory? Etc, etc) and have a little party there.

Scavenger hunts are fun... Or have a list of silly tasks each team has to complete (go to store and sing the oscar meyer weiner song in the hot dog aisle, offer to carry a strangers groceries, find a stranger to read a story to your group, etc)... tons of fun!!! Also, we made my sis stand on front street, dressed up silly, and had her sell cookies to raise money for her honeymoon... we made a silly sign for her too... Good luck and have fun!!!

For my bachelorette party we went downtown and did a video scavenger hunt. We actually had guys against girls then after we were done we split up and did seperate bachelor/ bachelorette parties. But we had a list of things that we either had to collect or video ourselves doing. We had to sing a song with a policeman, collect matches from a bar, dance with someone on the street ect....
Then we went back to my sisters house and did a "personal shower" where everyone got me nighties and lotions and fun bedroom gifts! You can do this as tastefully as you want, just put it on the invitation what you want and don't want.
It was a LOT of fun! I hope ya'll have a good time!

WITHDRAW THE HP QUESTION - Must mean Harry Potter....forgive me, never seen any of those movies. I grew up in a Hewlett-Packard family and that was my first thought. My thought about Harry Potter movies, is it doesn't fit the MO of a, as they called them in my day, SQUARE, so maybe your sis is more fun then you think.

How about a slumber party, do manies and petties, pizza, soda, popcorn and moveis Grease, the other Harry Potters, Sound of Music, Parent Trap (both old and new), board games, manopoloy, scabble etc....followed up by a wonderful pancake breakfast. Make it a kitchen and linen shower. By the way what is HP.

Blessings....

For my bachelorette party, we went out for fondue with just a few close friends. I'm not much for the "traditional" stuff either. There were no gifts given at the party since I was having a shower the next week. I know it sounds boring, but fondue makes you have to talk because you have to wait for your food to cook and most of the time the atmosphere is more quiet and conducive for conversation.

If the HP is an issue for you, why does it have to be on that night?

I like justamoms suggestions. Fun. Does she like horseback riding? Maybe spend an hour or two doing that too.
