I had received for 2 of my kids for their baptism and loved it was a cross that was pretty and decorated and she had the priest bless them and then I hung them in the kids rooms and it was such a nice feeling.
I have a baptism this Sunday - any ideas of gifts? He is a 4 month-old baby.
Thanks!

US Savings Bond or start a saving acct for him - or take a great photo of the day and have it enlarged and framed.
My son received a cross that is made out of stained glass. I hung it in his window and it is just so beautiful. If he has a ceiling fan in his room you could get him a little crystal angel that would hang from one of the strings. I've seen those before and they are so pretty. Take care-S.
The Hallmark Store has Precious Moments Baptism figurines. My daughter received one on her Baptism, and loved it so much I ended up giving one to my Godson. Another meaningful gift she received was a rosary in an engraved box from Things Remembered.
Maybe a wall cross, or a photo albulm or a saint christopher necklace. It is not so difficult most families are happy with anything. Good luck.
For one child, I found a tiny leather baby bible at Lifeway that they were able to engrave the child's name on. Although it's too small to read easily, they seemed to love it. I also gave them a framed photo of their child with me. For another (younger) baby, I gave a really nice dress and matching accessories.
My children received savings bonds among other baptismal gifts. These are nice because you only spend 1/2 of what the face value of the bond is and at maturity, your money has doubled! These were so nice when my children got ready to go off to college!!!
First Bible, small wooden hope chest to fit the clothes, candle and certificate in, Small scrap book that they can review annually to remember the baptism and the reason for it.
go to www.craftefamily.com. They laser engrave wooden blocks for special events. Super cute!!
Someone gave one of my sons a baptism beanie baby baby and he loves it. I think it has a dove on it. You can try Hallmark stores or google it.
Hi V.!
Any Christian store will be able to help you out on this. And you can chose from what they have - they are very helpful for events like this.

When each of my boys were baptized they were give sterling silver rattles. They were wonderful-easy to clean and useful during the teething period. I think my sister-in-law found them in a specialty childrens shop.
I cross for his room would be nice. Go to a christian book store and I'm sure you will find something appropriate there.
Money towards college!
One really nice gift my son received for his baptism was a picture frame. It was a shadow box type of frame with a clip inside to hold the picture. The clip was a cross and the frame was white. I think the frame came from a Hallmark store. It was so nice to frame a baptism picture from that special day.
A pretty picture frame is nice. Or a pretty blanket.
A savings bond is a great idea
My husband Paul and I always give savings bonds as baptism gifts. Our godchild continues to get small gifts and savings bonds for his birthday and Christmas.
your typical gifts are ; baby bibles, frames, etc.
I have always given a small stuffed animal, toys r us has a great selection in the animal alley dept, and they are not too expensive. I have given a book as well to go with the animal. books are always great gifts. my favorite two books for this occasion are Max Lucado's have you ever wondered and another book called someday. they are wonderful childrens books that are great for the whole family.
god bless.
what about a parenting book? that might benefit the child more then you can imagine! haha A sweet outfit for 6-12 months would be nice too.

My baby received the neatest gift for her baby dedication. It was purchased at Things Remembered; it's a 'snowglobe' (using glitter) & it's a little girl praying (they have little boys as well). When you wind it up she goes around & it plays When You Wish Upon a Star. They had a plaque put on it with an inscription that has her name, the occasion & the date it took place. I loved it!!! Good luck & happy shopping!!!
Most people gave my daughter a little stuffed animal or cute little book and a small savings bond. She also resived a little silver rubber ducky bank. Also an heirloom bible was appritiated. Photo albums (though we recieved tons of these, I personally won't give photo albums.)
Mostly anything small and meaningful.
Books of any kind are a great gift for children and there are so many childrens books with bible stories or Christian themes. Any Catholic or Christian store will have an entire section. Then you can personalize it with a sentimental note written in the inside cover, celebrating this fanatastic occasion. Though the child is too young to read it now they will enjoy and cherish them as they grow older.
V. - it is never too early to start their little minds leaning toward books - we always gift (regardless of age) the James Avery Noah's Ark bookmark. It is very well made and the animals hang from different colored ribbons. Mom and Dad may want to put it away until the child is a little older; of course, you can also have it engraved to commemorate the occasion. This is what we do - just an idea....
Go to the coin dealer and get a set of coins for his birth year, they should all be out by now, except maybe the half dollar, sometimes they come out a little. The coin store will have a nice display case for them.
Dear V. -
Check out Precious Moments at any of your local Hallmark stores. They usually have a great selection of gifts for Baptism. Another great place to find wonderful gifts for Baptism is the LifeWay Christian book store.
Good luck.

My nephew recently received a lovely linen cloth with a cross and his full given name and date of Baptism.
You may want to go to THINGS REMEMBERED. They have all sorts of babtism gifts and you can have them engraved with the childs name. I have pruchased a silver picture frame with a cross on it and it had the name of the child engraved at the bottom. The parents can get a special picture taken and place it in the frame to remember for years to come.
Hallmark stores have some very nice things to buy as gifts. Christening photo frames and little trinkets like that. Also, buying them their first Bible is a classic gift.
Lifeway Christian Book Store has age appropriate Inspirational gifts for his age. Or maybe try any bookstore. Something biblical would be nice. They grow into them (like a book) over the years and can be introduced early for familiarity.
What I buy for baptisms depends on my relationship to the family. If I am close family or a sponsor, I usually buy a cross for the baby's room. We also got baby jewelry from family. For good friends, I think a Christian board book or children's CD is a good idea. If they are friends or distant family, a card is probably fine.
A keepsake bible is always good. I don't know if you're the Godmother or not but when my Godchildren were baptised, I bought the Christening outfits and blankets.
A rosary, bible, or perhaps a Saint medallion if the child is named after a saint. There's a fantastic Catholic store on the corner of 2222 and Burnet. It's in the shopping center with the blue awnings all around it, next door to the 7-11.
love the toddler rhyme bible that we got! also, a cool container for the family to save the holy water that the child was baptized with in...nice keepsake.
My son received many of the gifts discussed, but the one of value that he will really appreciate later is the savings bonds he was given -the little bible, pins, rosary, frames, etc. have been put up for safe keeping. I agree with a couple of the other responses, savings bonds are a perfect gift that grows in value to be used for a car, college, etc.
Some ideas:
Baptism towel,Childrens' bible,Rosary all of these can be found at your local Christian store. I'm sure they will be glad to help you find what you're looking for.
On a personal note:
A special gift would be to take a picture of the baby being baptized with his parents, the god-parents and the priest or reverend and place it in a keepsake frame.
I rec'd a really cute plaque from the godmother that was a verse....train up children in the way they should go; and they will not depart'...or something; that was 15 years ago; but it was so cute; in primary colors at the time, and it is still on his wall. depending on the religion; a small bible, or crucifix - a book - anything is so welcome, it's the thought.
I recently had a Baptisim too. I purchased a cross night light with the child's name on it. It was a cross shape outlined in blue that said God Bless,.....the child's name. Personal Creations online has them.
A small blue Bible is also a keepsake. The Christian book stores will engrave the name for a very small fee. They may also have items in the store.
Enjoy this special celebration.
I live in Baytown,Tx. and we just attended a Baptism last weekend. In our town is a little shop that has the small Bibles that are covered with that eye-let fabric or crochet fabric and a bow {pink or blue} with a bible verse in a little gift box. It's a cute gift and something they will always treasure.
Our sons baptism was this weekend and we got several picture frames (one which said "Bless This Child" that was very very cute. One of the items that my daughter received that stuck out in my mind was a Jewelry box from Things Remembered....also Build-A-Bear's are cute and can be momentous.
