Any ideas for a special baptism gift for my new nephew? I will be his Godmother, and I wanted to do something special other than the typical Children's Bible or statue.

What can I do next?

For my older daughter's Blessing ceremony, we had everyone present pour sand into a jar that now sits on the highest shelf in her room. We call it her "Guardian Piece" and the sand represents the support and love of everyone that was with her the day she was blessed. (We also poured some in for the set of grandparents that couldn't be there.) This way, her family is with her every single day, no matter where they are physically.

Some variation of this could be really special coming from a godparent.

How about a really nice frame for a picture of the event? If your family is religious, it will likely be a nicely appreciated gift. You could even get two and ask your sibling for a copy of the picture so you can have one.

My oldest's godparent got her a steel cross w/ a precious moments on it and on the back it had the date of her baptism. It's a really nice keepsake and something very different from frames, bibles, etc. I am sure you can get him something a little more "Manly" than the precious moments.

I don't know where she got it, but if you would go to maybe Hallmark or somewhere like that maybe they sell them???

Maybe try looking on Etsy.
www.etsy.com
Just use the search words "baptism boy gifts."
They have wonderful handcrafted gifts, made by artisans/crafters.
Good site for special gifts.

How about a children's book about love or spirituality or a favorite children's book from your childhood or one that has prayers in it; you could also put a letter/note write in the cover a special message from you. You could buy a special picture to hang in his room as well. Congrats on becoming a Godmother...

My nephew's name is Nicholas. We got him a Saint Nicholas icon as part of his baptisimal gift. His parents have it over his bed so St. Nick can watch over him.

I don't recall what my son got for his baptism, he was only a month old at the time. But he is now 8 and we just celebrated his first communion. I got him a children's rosary and a stamped pewter christian bookmark (he LOVES to read) with his name and the date engraved on it. He was always using a baseball card or something similar as a bookmark and he was beyond thrilled over that gift.
