I had brothers who didn't stop until 12 and 14, and my son was wetting at 4. For two nights, we used this alarm thing that clipped to his underwear - it terrorized him though, so I stopped using it. After those two days though, he has had maybe two accidents, and he's seven now. My ped said to avoid milk for dinner and after.

All 3 of my kids are bed wetters. I've started my oldest son, who is almost 8, using the alarm that clips to the underwear. Our pediatrician said that there is medication but she suggests trying other avenues first. She also told us that it is usually genetic. After some research I realized that it absolutely does run in our family.

If you do decide to use the alarm, buy one off ebay. The pamphlet the doctor gave us was selling them for between 75 and 100 dollars. Theres a person who has an "ebay store" and if I'm remembering correctly, I think we got ours for under 30.

We found out my son had a corn allergy and when he stopped eating anything with corn, he stopped wetting the bed. We were so relieved because he was 9 at the time. It could be related to a food allergy. I went to a wonderful chiropractor named Dr. Branham who helped us. Send me a message if you have any questions!

I do not have a child who is a bed wetter, but I myself was a bed wetter until the age of 13. I had a bladder problem that corrected itself at the time of puberty. To get through this unfortunte problem my parents woke me up everyone night at the same time, generally about 2 am, to use the toilet. This was, I'm sure a problem for them, but they did it anyway, and as I got older, I was able to set an alarm and get up and take myself. You may also try no food or drink before bed. I wish you the best of luck.

A good friend of mine's son had trouble wetting the bed. I believe he was 6-7 years old. She was told by her doctor to wake him up at night by splashing cold water in his face and then having him go to the bathroom. I know it sounds cruel but it worked.

Hi, I had the same problem with my eldest child and I know how frustrating it could be. I solved my duaghters problem by not giving her something to drink 2 hours before her bed time and made sure she went to the bathroom before bed and then I would wake her up once in the middle of the night and take her to the bathroom and it worked. She ever wet her bed again. I hope this helps.

Yes I too have two sons who wet the bed and agree that it's genetic. My 9 year old is a very heavy sleeper. Once his head hits the pillow he is out. Literally. OUT cold. If I get lucky and wake him at say 11 or 12 then he seems to wake up dry. Some days dry, some not. Not sure what is causing the irregularity. Food allergy, that's interesting. My 5 year old is delayed a very years, so I expect him to wet for a while but with some advise and alot of luck maybe I can get both dry. I'd love to chat! Thanks
