Behavior Yesterday and Earthquake Today

Just a weird question, I was wondering if anyone's children behaved differently yesterday? It was funny because my mom said her dog was growling at her everytime she made the dog go outside. Mom's dog is a 4 pound yorkie and NEVER growls. Yesterday evening my daughter turned into a little devil. Her behavior was odd. At the time, I just blew it off as, she's 2. Also, a friend mentioned yesterday that her daughter was acting funny but she couldn't figure out what was wrong. My friend's daughter is 4.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

From the sound of it, several people experienced the same things that I did. Even some of my friends with pets; rabbits, cats, dogs, and birds all had stories of odd behavior. Thanks for taking the time to respond to my request!

I can tell you that both my kids were acting funny before I took them to school. I work in as school and all the First graders I work with were acting extra out of sorts. Someone did tell me that they heard that earthquakes can do that to people.

Funny, but now that you say something my 2 yr old son was a disaster the day before. I thought he was getting sick or something because he was acting all out of sorts. Nothing was making him happy. Then he woke up at 4:30am that morning fussing, so I was awake and had just gotten back in bed when the earthquake started. I don't think he really sensed anything but it is a funny correlation now that you bring it up.

I didn't know we had an earthquake until a friend was talking about it yesterday. My kids didn't act any different and I didn't feel anything but other people said they did and apparently was a lot stronger in St. Louis. I also lived in California for 3 years and felt tremors often and didn't notice any differences in the kids at daycare or my own son but here it isn't a common thing so may have an effect on animals and kids.

Wow. I hadn't even made the connection til I read your post. Thursday my kids (6yr old son & 2 yr old daughter) were acting crazy. They took ice cream cones and smashed them all over my kitchen and in my daughters bedroom. They wouldn't stop wrestling and laughing when I disciplined them. I thought maybe it was just them, but now you've help me understand it better. Come to think of it, the kids I babysit were kinda outta wack then too. Crazy how things like that can really make a child outta sorts.

Hi Mommy T

I have experienced that as well, and I believe that with changes in nature produces changes in children and animals. Probably some are more sensitive to this than others. My kids were very hyper yesterday evening, and my friend's dogs were unusually active before the earthquake.
I used to live for a long time in Chile (South America), where earthquakes are very common because it is located in the Fire Circle, so we had quakes as well more often than they can occur in USA (but California)and, the kids and the animals had some changes in their behavior. I think that when an earthquake happens, there is something in the atmosphere that has some influence on people and animals.
Well, that is my experience...
Take care
Alejandra

That's so weird. I've heard of that happening all the time though. I guess we should know to watch for that! I have a dog that is always outside. She was beat whe she was a pup before I adopted her and she is scared to come in (I have to literally carry her in a lot) unless it's storming, then she RUNS in. But yesterday, she was clawing at the window and ran in when I opened the door....I thought, breakthrough for Phoebe! But, I bet it was the earthquake....how funny. Poor girl! Glad everyone was safe though!!!!

Hi
I have a 17 month old daughter and for 2 nights before she was waking up at 4 in the morning and was just very unhappy that day. Then the earthquake on Friday, her dad thinks it might have something to do with it but I'm not sure.

I do home daycare and also have my own little ones. All the kiddos were very well behaved and acted just fine. Maybe your kids were just acting out and having a bad day because of no reason.

I didn't see any strange behavior in any of my kids. That might be because our daily dynamics have changed a lot since one of our daycare kids isn't here this week. These kids have been angels every day.

My animals were all normal too. We had an earthquake in Missouri?

Funny, I had not thought of it, but two of my children complained of tummy aches, something very uncommen for them. Not claiming it was related, but it makes you wonder.

My kids were acting funny too. they were even meaner than they usually are. they were acting different at the baby sitters, whom they both love, my daughter even walked up behind her and bit her for no apparent reason! it was just really unlike both of them. Our dogs were acting funny Thursday night and all day Friday. every time I went outside they were whimpering at me, and they never do that.

Kids and animals I think are so much more in tune with the earth that they knew, even if only subconsciously that something was amiss.

I'm also really glad it wasn't just me that noticed!!

Oh yeah, I'm sure it is related to the earthquake! My husband is very sensitive & perceptive like most children & animals are, and he was very off-kilter (irrationally angry & extremely tense) the previous day, then right when the earthquake happened he started throwing up! He was very sick for the next 12 hours or so.

I don't remember what my kids were like before the earthquake but my husband always picks up on those kinds of things & he felt it coming just like your daughter, your friend's daughter, and your mom's dog.

Funny how that kind of thing is possible but it definitely is.

I heard multiple people talk about being in a bad mood and everyone around then in a bad mood. A high school teacher mentioned that all of her "kids" seemed weird too! I definately think there is coralation when there is a full moon too.

Interesting thought! I do daycare and the kids were a bit wound up, but I figured it was the weather as rain was moving in. I totally believe that kids and adults and animals have a sense of changes. I'm sure it could be from the earthquake, but we don't have enough experience with them, thank goodness, to know for sure.
Just a note: I tried to do a research paper on this topic in high school and could find absolutely no info on it!

I'm not certain if it was the earthquake, but My kids are generally out of sorts near the full moon. I don't generally believe in that sort of corelation, but it never fails that when we are having our worst days, a full moon is just around the corner!
