Oh. My. Goodness.
I lived by Disneyland as a kid, and it's a good thing they didn't have this then.
I'm a 'grown up', and I just went and looked, and *I* want to do this!!!
I will be taking my then 5 yo to disney next year. She is totally in love with the princesses, dressing up, hair and make up. Is the Bippidi Boppidi boutique worth the money?

I bet she would love it. Last year we (me, my husband, my son, and my sister) all joined the Pirates League. It is very similar to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. To save money, we brought a costume from home for my son and the rest of us just did the make-up.
I will second the Barber Shop at the Magic Kingdom. On one of our visits, my husband saw the barber shop and decided that my son had to have his hair cut that day. While my son's hair was being cut, my daughter said that she wanted to get her hair cut at Disney World too. When I said that she had just had her hair cut, the barber offered to do a princess hair style with sparkles for her instead of a cut. It worked out perfect, because we already had a dress for her and we were going to a princess party at the park that evening.
The best part was that it cost us somewhere between $10 and $15. (If I remember correctly, the hair cut didn't cost any more than it did at the barber shop at home.) Plus it ended up being something that we did as a family and all enjoyed. The ladies working in the barber shop were super nice. And my daughter was thrilled.
I highly recommend it! We took our 4.5 year old to Disney for her time this summer. The boutique has different packages you can choose from. The more you add, the more costly it will be. We decided just to choose the hair and make-up package, it was around $45. She has several princess dresses, so we brought one with us, and they let her change into her dress before her appointment. They also have park photographers there that capture the entire time. She really felt like a movie star! After her appointment, so walked around the park like she owned the place. It was a really special time for her and she still talks about it months later.
My daughter was 3 when we went this past Feb so I didn't bother. But I had a book about doing Disney with kids and when they mentioned the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, they had a really funny story in there from a mom who let her 5 year old daughter do it - she warned other parents not to do it the first day, but to wait until later in the trip. They had their daughter get all done up the first day of vacation and they were there for a week. The little girl would NOT allow any part of it to get undone - she wouldn't let them take the up-do apart, they couldn't wash the glitter out of her hair or off her face, she insisted on wearing the dress every day. The mom summed it up by saying that by the end of week, her daughter "looked like Belle on crack." LOL!
During our time there, I saw a lot of little girls with the princess get-up on. Some I suspect had done the BBB, some probably had done a character breakfast with the princesses, etc. But it didn't seem very comfortable or practical for the them to be doing as much walking and standing as you do at Disney, going on rides, with temps in the 80s, with froo-froo princess outfits (including the shoes) on and their hair all done up. But that's just me. If we went again and DD really wanted to do it, I would let her, but again, would wait until later in the trip (like, next to last day). And at least have comfy shoes to change into.
It also depends on your daughter's hair. One of the key pieces of it is that they style your daughter's hair into an updo like the princesses. My daughter has short hair. We're lucky if we can make a ponytail at the very top. So while the experience of being pampered would've been fun she wouldn't have been able to get the full treatment.
It would also depend on what time of year you go and your plans for the rest of the day, post boutique. Going in the summer time when its 100+ degrees, she may become uncomfortable with tons of product in her hair. You would also not want to do it on a day that you were possibly going on water rides or to the water park.
It books up quickly with long wait times. So if you do it it would be an activity for just you and your daughter.
I think it also depends on the employee you get... ours was old & not very enthusiastic & even commented on dd's amount of hair. She didn't really engage with DD the way the other ladies were. The makeup was horrible & you couldn't even see it. I was expecting more for the amount of money we spent. DD was happy with it, I'm sure, but I think with the right person doing the hair/makeup it would've been a better experience (at least from a parent's perspective). We did it for her birthday, it's probably not something we'd do again.
I think you can make it less expensive if you look at the packages. We went 3 years ago and spent $50 - we brought our own dress ($20 at Walmart) and that included hair, makeup and a few tokens to take home. We could have added nails for $5. I know some people can spend over $200 and I think that is unnecessary. It was worth the money especially for a 5 year old. I agree with another poster that said if you decide not to do it, you should make sure you bring a dress and do the hair and makeup yourself.
My daughter loved it! It was one of her favorite things she did at Disney. Bring your own dress.
I'm sure it's worth it for special occasions :)
Just as an additional much less expensive option, for those who don't want to spend as much for their princesses' hairdo's (& princes!), you can take them to the Barber Shop just inside the main gate to the left on main street. They will do a glittery hair style with "sprinkles" & hair paint (if you don't want the paint, BE SPECIFIC). Boys can get sprinkle mohawks. If you want to see what I am talking about, google (under IMAGES) with "Disney Barber hair sprinkles glitter" and you will get some great ideas. The cost is less than $10...
Yes, and if you already own some Princess dress up dresses, you can save a little $ and bring your own dress, or have her wear it in....have fun! So wish that I had - had enough $ to do this with my daughter when she was younger.
It's expensive but she would love it. Her thrill and the memories make it worth it even though otherwise it would not be. My girl was not into the princeses when we went (she was only 2 yrs and a few months) but now would totally love it.
We JUST got back from Disneyland and my daughter who is 4, got her hair done at Bippidi Boppidi boutique - I'd do it again in a heartbeat!! It is costly ($50 for the cheapest) but they treated her like a princess from the moment they called her name..."Princess Alexis"...they courtsied to her and just made the entire thing so much fun! After she was done, my daughter received so many comments from everyone in the park - and she loved that. We chose not to go in costume because it was hot and that's OK, you don't have to. So, yes - totally worth the money and the hair stayed in for 2 days (probably would have stayed longer but that was my limit). Overall the experience alone is worth it - we'll have these memories forever!! :0) PS You can make reservations ahead of time or get there when they first open and do a walk-in but you might have to wait a bit.
I think that depends on your child. My daughter loves the princesses too and I have asked her if she would like to go there. She has told me no. She doesn't like people touching her hair and can't stand glitter on her. Some of the stores in the parks will try and put fairy dust on the kids and she politely tells them no thank you.
I am not sure what exactly comes with this I do know that it can be costly. We chose to just purchase a couple of princess dresses instead of getting all dolled up.
My daughter had it done when she was 4 (before the dinner at Cinderella's castle) and 5 (for the Sleeping Beauty tea party at Grand Floridian). It is very expensive, and I was not thrilled with the technician and the boring up-do my daughter had the first time. Another person ultimately finished her hair and was wonderful. The next time was great, too. However, remember that the memories are really for you. My daughter (now 9) doesn't remember either one. I guess if I had to do it over again, I might (especially if you don't think you will get back to Disney for years). Then again, a 4 year old has no idea that there even is a BBB, and would probably be thrilled to have mom apply some sparkles and glitter.
PLEASE remember to bring a dress if you go to a special princess dinner, though and do not buy a dress in Disney. We brought our Cinderella dress, but my mom and mother-in-law decided to go in on a top-of-the-line Sleeping Beauty dress and shoes from the Tinkerbell Boutique in Magic Kingdom while we were there and the dress alone was $95!!! Have fun!
We skipped it when we went the last time because it is really expensive, but if I had had the extra cash, I would have taken Hailey because I know she would have loved it.
If my daughter was into the princess thing I would do it in a heartbeat. I think next trip we will do the pirate version of the BBB
if she digs it a lot like your saying she does then i would def go for it! i did not enjoy disney when i went....i was 17 and the majic was lost for me! enjoy it while you can...or while she can ;D
Is it worth the money? Hmmmm... hard to say. It is ridiculously expensive, but if I had it to do over again, I probably would. When we booked our trip to disney we got a $500 gift card that could be used anywhere in the park so that is where part of it went. My daughter (who was 4 at the time) LOVED it. If you choose NOT to do the BBB, then be prepared to take a princess dress and do your own hair and makeup one of the days you are there. I know alot of families do that instead. She will see all of the other little princesses running around and she will want to look like one too. If you choose to do the BBB, then book it now. You won't get in if you wait too close to trip time. Same with dining. Hope this helps and I hope you have a wonderful time!
ADDED: If you do choose to do it, have your camera ready for when they turn her around and do the big reveal. Those pictures are worth their weight in gold. I will NEVER forget my little one's face when she saw herself transformed. It really was magical for her.
My SIL just took her daughter (4 year old) this past spring. She LOVED it! All my SIL had done was the hair. She did not do the princess dress or pay for pictures. It was enough for my niece, she loved getting her hair done by a princess...its all she needed to make her Disney experience fun.
