Hey Moms,
Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season. I have a question that is very specific but thought I would throw it out just in case someone has some insight. I am due on Jan. 25 and I had scheduled a tour for Christus St. Katherine Hospital on Fry Rd for last Sunday. Well I had a Christmas party that afternoon and completely forgot about the tour. They only have tours the third Sunday of every month so I won't have time to tour before this baby comes because I need to go ahead and get registered at a hospital. Anyway, has anyone had a baby there, what was your experience? I read online that they have nice birthing centers and that you can be in the same room the whole time which sounds good. I had my first at Katy Memorial Hermann, I was in different rooms, it was totally hospital like and the bench for family members was way to small for husband to stretch out on to sleep. The rooms were also very small. My only choices are Katy Memorial Hermann and Christus St. Katherine because that is where my doctor delivers. Anyway, any feedback on Christus would be very appreciated. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

What can I do next?

First off, congratulations on your new little one! I had my daughter at St Catherines 8 years ago. It was a great hospital. I did give birth in the same room and they are very comfortable. We have lived in Katy for 11 years and that is where my doctors are, I've been to that emergency too with friends and family. My husband had surgery there. My grandmother had a triple bypass there. I have a couple of friends that are nurses there. It is a wonderful hospital. Better than anywhere else in my mind. I hope this helps. God bless... P.

Congratulations on your baby! I had my daughter at Christus a little over two years ago and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The nurses and staff are very attentive and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable and pretty spacious. You do get to stay in one room the whole time and that was nice as well. The staff was also very helpful to me after the baby was born. I called a time or two with "new mommy" questions and they were very nice and patient and never made me feel that I was bothering them or asking dumb questions. I honestly could not have asked for a better experience. I am now expecting my second child in February and am planning to have him at Christus as well. Hopefully, this is helpful to you. Best of luck and may God bless you and your family!

when you registar at the hospital act like you didn't know about the tour and see if they will take you a short tour of the birthing center. I did this with my last daughter and while we didn't get to see everything it did help. We were able to see how to get to labor and delivery and where the room would be and also the nursery. I went on a Monday after breakfast and before lunch when they aren't as busy.

I had my first daughter at St. Luke's and my second at Sugar Land Memorial Hermann. So I can't be of any more help.

I had my second child at Christus St. Catherine and I LOVED it. I had my first at Texas Womans and since that is such an esteemed hospital I assumed my experience there was a good one. It wasn't bad, but when compared to Christus, I realized I had a much better experience at Christus. I had to find a new doctor with my second and I was adamantly opposed to that whole thing. But I have to say in the end I am glad it all happened the way it did. You do the entire process in your room (unless you need surgery of course then you go to the operating room). And the rooms are nice and roomy. I can't remember about the accomodations for sleepovers but I think that the bench folded out into more like a bed. The nurses were amazing, attentive and caring. What I remember most about TX Womans is that there was someone coming in to check my vitals like every hour and alarms going off and paging over the intercom. St. Catherine's was so quiet and I was one of two women there so I got lots of attention. They said they are rarely crowded...unlike TXW where I requested a private room but was told it was not a guarantee because they always have a full house. Anyway, overall I can't say enough good about CSC. I hope you have the same great experience. I did get to tour first but it isn't necessary. You feel like you are in good hands the minute you get checked in. Good luck - hope this is helpful.
